Magnetic attraction between the first magnet or the first ferromagnetic material and the second magnet or the second ferromagnetic material causes the muntin grid to be attracted to and removably engaged with the windowpane. The first magnet or first ferromagnetic material may have a convex surface, and the second magnet or second ferromagnetic material may have a concave surface that mates with the convex surface of the first magnet or first ferromagnetic material.

    摘要: Window or curtain wall assemblies and concealed window fastening assemblies are disclosed. Each window panel includes two layers of glass or other material separated by a spacing mullion, which lines the perimeter of the window panel to create a sealed chamber. The depth of the sealed chamber between the two layers is variable to accommodate either thermal requirements, vertical and horizontal structural loads, or both. The chamber reduces heat loss due to convection allowing it to outperform current double or triple glazing window walls. Each chamber can connect through tubes to allow for air or gas transfer to enhance thermal performance and create the potential for other functional and aesthetic effects. When the window panels are assembled, the latching mechanism structurally unifies each panel to become a single monolithic surface that can also account for thermal expansion. Elements of the latching mechanism are arranged to allow the window or curtain wall to be assembled from the interior, leaving only caulking to be performed from the exterior. Concealing all of such elements helps eliminate the exposure of window mullions and minimizes maintenance of the window or curtain wall.

In certain example embodiments, the keeper may be on level with or slightly lower than a primary seal so as to reduce the likelihood of the keeper interfering with the seal.

    摘要: Certain example embodiments of this invention relate to apparatuses for sealing the tips of pump-out tubes of vacuum insulating glass (VIG) units, and/or associated methods. In certain example embodiments, a laser source used in sealing the pump-out tube is thermally insulated from the VIG unit and emits a laser beam through one or more windows in an oven towards a mirror located therein. The mirror is located so as to redirect the laser beam onto the pump-out tube to thereby seal it. For instance, a substantially horizontal laser beam emitted from a laser source located outside the oven enters into the oven through one or more windows and is reflected by a mirror towards the pump-out tube to be sealed. The repositioning of the laser source advantageously can change its effective focal length and/or the location of the laser beam, e.g., because of the fixed location of the mirror.

    摘要: Method and apparatus for making a contoured muntin bar assembly or grid. A tubular muntin bar grid has a first muntin bar formed from an elongated tube having ends that engage a window spacer frame and include side walls that have relatively narrow top and bottom planar walls and relatively wider side planar walls. The top and bottom planar walls defining one or more slots that define intersecting muntin bar positions. One or more intersecting muntin bars formed from elongated tubes have ends that engages the first elongated muntin bar in a region of a slot. The grid includes one or more joiner clips for positioning the one or more intersecting muntin bars in relation to said first muntin bar. Each joiner clip has a tree portion that extends into one end of said intersecting muntin bars to support the intersecting muntin bars in relation to the first muntin bar and an anchor portion which extends into a slot of said first muntin bar and connects to a wall of the first muntin bar spaced from a wall of the first muntin bar contacted by an associated intersecting muntin bar which engages the tree portion of the joiner clip. The anchor portion includes either an integral tab which traps the wall of the muntin bar between a flexible finger or a separate tab which is mounted to a clip base that defines the flexible finger.

    摘要: A muntin clip supports a muntin grid inside an insulating glazing unit. The clip includes a positioning arm that allows the clip to be positioned with respect to the spacer. In one embodiment, the clip has a flat base adapted to be positioned on the inwardly facing surface of the spacer. The positioning arm extends from one side of the plate with the muntin-engaging body extending from the other side of the plate. The arm has an outer end that projects beyond the outer edge of the plate. A method for using the clip includes the step of using one of the glass sheets to engage and position the positioning arm of the muntin clip. Stops may be provided to limit the insertion of the clip into the spacer.

This connector 20 can be slipped into an opening 15 of the muntin bar 11 so that both ends 22, 23 will anchored in the interior of the muntin bar 11. Then, by moving in one direction the lever 31 can be slipped into the interior of the muntin bar 13, and, by moving in opposite direction the protrusion 25 can be slipped into the interior of the muntin bar 13. With the connector 20 such placed, slight pressure on the muntin bars 11, 13 will lock the lever 31, so that the connector 20 firmly connects the muntin bars 11, 13.
