摘要:
A stowable or foldable ladder is configured for installation in an opening between one floor or space and another floor or space. An upper ladder section includes a left ladder rail and a right ladder rail, a lower ladder section having a left ladder rail and a right ladder rail, a hinge rotatably connecting the upper ladder section left ladder rail to the lower ladder section left ladder rail and rotatably connecting the upper ladder section right ladder rail to the lower ladder section right ladder rail, and a plurality of steps rotatably disposed between the upper pair of ladder rails and the lower pair of ladder rails. The steps are configured for rotation between a retracted position and a deployed position.

A new Extendable Pyramid Ladder System for providing a compact stable ladder system which allows the user to access heightened areas by standing on a broad platform while simultaneously providing maximum stability, and for providing compact storage by folding into a swaged shape. The inventive device includes a vertical series of planar support members aligned parallel to one another, a left scissors bracket pivotally secured to the bottom portion of said planar support members, a right scissors bracket secured to the bottom portion of said planar support member opposite of the left scissors bracket where said scissors brackets allow the series of planar support members to extend vertically upward, a recessed handle on the cornice of the top planar support member, and a securing means to retain a swaged shape for the invention when in the storage position. The series of planar support members fit within each other to form a swaged shape for storage. The user may leave the desired number of upper planar support members in the storage position to provide a broad swaged platform for the user to stand upon to reach heightened areas.

A linkage assembly including first, second, third, fourth and fifth elongate linkage members 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 respectively, a first connecting arrangement 22 for connecting and allowing pivotal displacement between proximal end regions of the first and second elongate linkage members 12 and 14 respectively, a second connecting arrangement 24 for connecting and allowing pivotal displacement between distal end regions of the first and third elongate linkage members 12 and 16 respectively, a step support connecting arrangement 26 for connecting the first and fourth elongate linkage members 12 and 18 respectively, the step support connecting arrangement 26 being located inwardly the second connecting arrangement 24 and provides a stepping formation 30 for a user, the step support connecting arrangement 26 including a shaft 32 having a first portion 34 which is shaped to be received by and inhibit relative pivotal displacement between the fourth linkage member 18 and the stepping formation 30 during extension and retraction of the retractable ladder arrangement 36 and a second portion 38 shaped to be received by and allow pivotal displacement between the first and fourth linkage members 12 and 18, and a third connecting arrangement 28 for connecting and allowing pivotal displacement between the first and fifth elongate linkage members 12 and 20 respectively, the fifth elongate linkage member 20 being located intermediate the first and step support connecting arrangements 22 and 26 respectively.

An adjustable stairway system provides access between a first elevation level and a second elevation level. The system includes a pair of expandable and retractable scissor stringers and multiple spaced apart treads joining the pair of stringers. The system further includes a first mounting assembly structured to allow a top portion of the stairway to be relatively permanently secured to a landing or other man-made structure, and second, different mounting assembly that allows a bottom portion of the stairway to be removably secured to natural terrain such as a beach. The system sometimes includes a control assembly to assist in expanding or retracting of the stairway.

A method and apparatus are provided, for allowing pets to ascend and descend on a foldable staircase having a plurality of stair treads operatively connected by articulating links in such a manner that the treads can be pivoted in unison from a stowed position of the staircase, in which the treads are substantially stacked upon one another, to a plurality of extended positions, in which the links position the treads in a spaced and parallel relationship to one another. A latch selectively secures the staircase in a selected one of the extended positions. The latch is configured for preventing further pivoting of the treads in either direction between the stowed and extended positions of the staircase, when the latch is engaged.
