摘要: Stepladders and related methods of using and manufacturing stepladders are provided. In one embodiment, a stepladder is provided that comprises a top cap, a first assembly and a second assembly. The first assembly has a pair of spaced apart rails pivotally coupled with the top cap. The second assembly includes at least one rail pivotally coupled with the top cap. The first assembly and second assembly are configured to be displaced relative one another such that the stepladder is selectively positionable between a first, deployed state and a second, collapsed state. The first assembly, the second assembly and the top cap are cooperatively configured such that the at least one rail of the second assembly is at least partially nested within an envelope defined by the pair of spaced apart rails of the first assembly with the step ladder is in a collapsed state.

摘要: Ladder configurations and components are provided including an outer rail assembly which is longitudinally adjustable relative to an inner rail assembly. The outer rail assembly may include a pair of spaced apart outer rails each fixedly coupled to an associated sleeve or sliding mechanism. Each sleeve is in turn slidably coupled to an inner rail of the inner rail assembly. The outer rails may be positioned and oriented at an acute angle relative to the inner rails so as to provide an increased base distance between the two outer rails. Support structures are also disclosed which are coupled at multiple locations along a rail member and at least one location of a rung. Additionally, ladder hinges are disclosed including hinge components configured to effectively transmit loads from associated rails. In one embodiment the hinge may include a pinch prevention mechanism.

摘要: A convertible ladder having a first ladder section and a second ladder section. The first ladder section and the second ladder section each include a pair of side rails and at least one rung that extends between the side rails. The first ladder section further includes a pair of upper rail guides and a pair of intermediate rail guides. One of the upper rail guides is attached to each of the second side rails proximate an upper end thereof. One of the intermediate rail guides is attached to each of the second side rails intermediate the upper end and the lower end. The upper rail guides and the intermediate rail guides each include a recess that is adapted to at least partially receive one of the first side rails.

摘要: A method for manufacturing a rail for a ladder. The method may include pultruding in a longitudinal direction, a rail having a selected cross-sectional shape. The rail may then be cut to a predetermined length at a distal end. A force may be applied, in a lateral direction, to the rail to form a curvature therein. The curvature may be characterized by a flared portion, a straight portion, and a curved region providing the transition therebetween. The rail may be held at the desired curvature for a time selected for the rail to take on the curvature substantially permanently. The force may then be removed and the rail may be assembled into a ladder.

摘要: A method of forming a structural joint between a first and a second rigid element, the first element having at least one flange extending from a face thereof and having an outer end, the second element having at least one elongate groove which is substantially arcuate in cross-section provided on a face thereof, each groove having opposed edges which define an elongate opening of a dimension to permit entry of a flange into the groove, comprises placing the outer end of at least one flange into the elongate opening of the at least one groove. Then by applying sufficient external force to the first and second elements, relative movement between the elements results and the distance between the opposing faces thereof is decreased, the flange being deformed within the groove to form a portion of a coil therein having a width which is greater than the width of the elongate opening. The degree of coiling of the flange within the groove may be varied along the length of the joint. This method may be used to join a ladder rung to a ladder rail.A structural joint between a first and a second element when formed by the above method.
