摘要： A system for fragmenting material includes an energy source, an acoustic transmitter, and a controller. The acoustic transmitter is coupled to the energy source and includes a unit acoustic source configured to emit an acoustic wave through a volume of ground material. The controller is coupled to the acoustic transmitter and is configured to engage the unit acoustic source such that the acoustic wave fractures the volume of ground material at a target location.

摘要： A low-noise method and apparatus for fracturing concrete and other solid materials by coupling microwave energy into the material in a fashion such as to generate independent heat patterns using at least two or more microwave applicator horns that are spaced apart from each other. The power density of the microwave energy coupled into the solid material is established and maintained below a predetermined threshold level above which violent and explosive type reactions occur. The spaced heat patterns or zones produced cause the heated material to expand, so as to place high tensile forces or stresses on the unheated material between the heat patterns. These forces or stresses cause failure to occur between the heat patterns, and ultimately across the heat patterns themselves.

The asteroid miner apparatus comprises a body, an aperture, a plurality of holes, a plurality of speakers, a drill, an attachment piece, a fan, a baggage, and a set of air compressors. The drill and plurality of speakers are attached to the body to break down matter. The set of air compressors expel air through the plurality of holes to create an atmosphere around the body. The fan is attached to the body to create a current of air though the aperture. The baggage is attached to the body to collect pieces of asteroid. The system comprises a plurality of asteroid miners and an attachment piece to connect the asteroid miners. The system may be placed around an asteroid or other piece of material to break down the material and collect portions of the material.
