摘要: An improved system and method for relocating a selected layer of overburden, such as a layer of unconsolidated soil, in a strip mining operation are provided. The system employs an excavator, an intermediate belt wagon with at least two slewable conveyors, and a cross-pit conveyor having a long cantilevered conveyor pivotably supported on a mobile base; with all of said equipment being preferably based on the highwall side of the pit. According to the method, the area to be stripped is divided first into a series of large rectangles aligned parallel to the pit, with each rectangle being further divided into a series of narrow strips also parallel to the pit. The area is then progressively stripped beginning with the nearest strip of a first rectangle and proceeding with the next adjacent strip until the first rectangle is completed and then proceeding in like manner with each successive rectangle. The excavated material is transferred via the belt wagon and cross-pit conveyor directly across the pit and redistributed there in slightly curved windows which simulate the pattern according to which it was excavated.

摘要: A strip mining technique wherein an active mining area is continuously moved across a mining ground. In one form of the invention, overburden is removed from a leading end of the active mining area and conveyed by a conveyor system located on a highwall of the mining area to a following end of that mining area. The conveyed overburden is dumped adjacent the active mining area following end to form a spoil bank which is landscaped and reclaimed. Another form of the invention includes a conveyor system located on the main bench.

摘要: A dumping system, for the dumping of material, in particular for the filling of a former strip mine, includes a conveyor belt with belt modules (7) suspended on cables and a traveling tripper (15), which is arranged traveling in the direction of conveying. The belt modules (7) are fastened by braced carrier cables (3) and suspension cables (5) fastened thereto in a mostly horizontal alignment. The traveling tripper (5) can travel on the belt modules (7). Furthermore, the slack of the carrier cables (3) may be compensated by a different length of the suspension cables (5), such that the belt modules (7) are aligned mostly horizontally. It is thus possible to span over the area to be dumped (for example, a pit) with cables and to dump material by means of the traveling tripper at all points of the bracing. Thus, it is not necessary to drive the dumped material.

摘要: Mine tailings and similar materials are disposed of by replacing the tailings in underground mineworks including the shafts, adits and drifts by forming a slurry of tailings using dredging or similar mixing processes and pumping the slurry to the mineworks. Cementitious materials may be added to selected quantities of the tailings slurries to form cement plugs for placement at selected intervals in the mineworks to minimize connectivity of the mineworks shafting, adits and drifts. The mineworks may be dewatered to provide a source of water for the slurrification process and the water may be reused after separation from the slurry. The disposal process provides a convenient way of replacing mine tailings in a repository of similar mineralogy and at least partially eradicates abandoned mineworks, including shafting, adits and drifts, which otherwise might require continual monitoring and dewatering.
