    摘要: A rotary combustion engine includes a driving eccentric ring arranged between a non-rotary outer casing and a non-rotary inner casing for rotating a power shaft situated inside the inner casing. In order to drive the eccentric ring, a combustion chamber arrangement is provided between the inner and the outer non-rotary casings for burning a mixture of fuel and air supplied thereto, the power shaft being provided with an eccentric element. In order to minimize the number of rotating components, a second eccentric ring is mounted by a bearing around the power shaft inside the aforementioned non-rotary inner casing, this second ring being coaxial with and fixed to the driving eccentric ring, and the eccentric ring arrangement being a substantially non-rotary unit that only performs an eccentric motion, which makes the power shaft rotate.

    摘要: An internal combustion engine comprises a toroidal combustion chamber housing within which slides at least one piston. The combustion chamber housing has a circumferential longitudinal slot sealed by a ring seal to which the pistons are rigidly attached. A mechanism is provided for reversibly creating one or more transverse seals within the combustion chamber housing. The space between the transverse seals constitutes one or more combustion chambers. The simplest embodiment of the engine has one combustion chamber and one piston. The combustion chamber is operationally divided by the piston into two regions. The space between the transverse seal and a trailing surface of the piston defines a combustion region. The space between the transverse seal and a leading surface of the piston defines an exhaust region. In each power cycle of the engine, compressed air, fuel and steam are injected into the combustion region and ignited. The resulting hot combustion gases drive the piston around the circular path defined by the toroidal housing, with power being transferred from the piston and the ring seal via a suitable linkage to a central power shaft. Meanwhile, the leading surface of the piston pushes the combustion gases of the previous cycle out of the combustion chamber housing, preferably into a similar toroidal expansion chamber housing where further expansion of the combustion gases drives a second piston that is similarly linked to the power shaft. The scope of the invention also includes a protocol for injecting air, fuel and steam into the combustion housing.

    摘要: A rotary engine having an oval rotor (12) centrally mounted in a cylindrical chamber (11). Cylindrical chamber (11) is partitioned into a number of combustion chambers (40-47) by sliding vanes (48-53B). Rotor (12) is mounted to a partially hollow shaft (21) the shaft (21) extending through respective sidewalls of the cylindrical chamber (11). Rotor (12) is provided with internal passageways to allow exhaust to flow from a combustion chamber (40-47) through an internal passageway and out through the partially hollow shaft (21) and to allow incoming air to flow into a hollow portion (19) within rotor (12) and through a suitable passageway to a port located on the outer periphery of the rotor (12). In this manner, air and exhaust gases can be passed into and from a combustion chamber (40-47) by means of ports in the rotor (12) and the engine does not require external valves. Shaft (21) has a solid end which can be used as an output shaft to drive a fly wheel or the like.

    摘要: A rotary pump or motor has a rotor with no relatively movable parts and has the valving incorporated in the housing with the valving actuated by cams on the rotor. The air or gas flow through the pump or motor is by way of passages in the rotor on opposite sides of a piston on the rotor, this piston fitting in an annular groove in the housing.This type of pump or motor device is utilized in a hot gas engine in which two or more devices functioning as pumps in series supply compressed air to a burner and two or more similar devices functioning as motors receive hot gas under pressure from the burner to be driven by this gas and in turn driving the pumps for operation as a hot gas engine. The rotors of all the pumps and motors are incorporated in a single rotor with a burner construction also in the rotor between the pump rotor elements and the motor rotor elements.

    摘要: A hydraulic wheel, more specifically a hydraulic energy converting device, having an inner stator provided with a peripheral camming surface and a rotor, enclosing the stator, and being rotatably mounted relative thereto; the rotor being adapted to cooperate with the camming surface of the stator to define a plurality of liquid-tight working chambers between the camming surface and the stator. Each working chamber has an inlet at one end and an outlet at the other end, the stator having a pressurized liquid distribution system to distribute pressurized liquid from an outer source to the respective inlet of each working chamber and a liquid collection system, independent of the distribution system, adapted to collect liquid from the respective outlet of each working chamber and direct it to the said outer source. A plurality of reciprocating vanes are slidably mounted in the rotor for radial inward movement, a longitudinal edge of each vane remote from the rotor being biased against the camming surface by springs, the vanes being adapted to separate the working chambers into liquid-tight sections whereby pressurized liquid entering into each working chamber through its respective inlet strikes the vanes and transmits a force thereto capable of rotating the rotor while liquid on the side of said vanes opposite that being struck urging the liquid within the working chamber toward the outlet end thereof.

    摘要: A concentric rotary engine of the internal combustion type is provided which includes a rotor concentrically disposed within a hollow rotor housing and in slidable engagement with the inner surface of the rotor housing. A power transfer shaft is secured to the rotor and extends beyond the housing. The rotor has a perimetrical cam surface which defines, in the direction of axial rotation, a power lobe, an inlet pocket, an operating lobe and a combustion pocket. The engine is provided with one or more operating sections each of which includes an intake passage system associated with a leading gate system, an exhaust passage system associated with a trailing gate system and a combustion chamber disposed therebetween. The leading and trailing gate systems are in correlative spaced relationship and include, respectively, leading and trailing gates and leading and trailing gate housings therefor. The gate housings are integrated with the rotor housing and are in open mouth communication with the transverse width of the rotor cam surface. The gates are yieldably, sealingly and slidably disposed within their respective housings for sealingly and slidably engaging the rotor cam surface. An operative section is defined by the leading and trailing gates and the combustion chamber disposed therebetween. An intake reservoir is defined by the portion of the rotor inlet pocket in cyclic communication with the operative section. An expansion receiver is defined by the portion of the rotor combustion pocket in cyclic communication with the operative section. The rotor operating lobe is provided with an entrance channel for conveying fluid to the intake reservoir and is provided with an exit channel for withdrawing fluid from the expansion receiver. The intake passage system is adapted to cooperate with and selectively admit fluid into the entrance channel and the exhaust passage system is adapted to cooperate with and selectively exhaust fluid from the exit channel. Means are provided for initiating combustion of combustible fluid in the combustion chamber.

    摘要: A rotary, positive displacement engine comprises a housing having an open chamber formed therein. There are provided in the housing in communication with the open chamber thereof intake means for injecting fuel therethrough into the open chamber, and exhaust means for exhausting therethrough combustion products from the open chamber. Valve means are movably mounted in the housing in juxtaposed relation to the open chamber. The valve means are operable to intermittently move into the open chamber and divide the latter into a plurality of closed sections. A shaft is supported in the housing for rotation therein substantially at right angles to the open chamber. The shaft has a disc provided thereon for rotation therewith. A plurality of pistons are provided on the disc in spaced relation relative to each other. The pistons extend into the open chamber and rotate therethrough as the disc is caused to rotate. The shaft is rotatably driven by the pressure of the gases in the plurality of closed sections, generated by the ignition of the fuel injected through the intake means into the open chamber, acting upon the plurality of pistons.
