A method for operating a burner assembly, in particular a burner assembly of a gas turbine, wherein an evaluation variable representing the combustion stability is determined and at least one control variable is altered, at least based on the determined evaluation variable, when the determined evaluation variable does not fall within a previously defined desired range, the desired range of the evaluation variable being constant over the entire output range of the machine, and wherein the evaluation variable is determined based on measured maximum actual amplitudes in previously defined frequency bands and measured actual outputs of the burner assembly.

An arrangement to control vibrations in a gas turbine exhaust diffuser is provided. The arrangement includes a protrusion coupled to a turbine exhaust cylinder strut for controlling shock induced oscillations in a gas turbine diffuser. The controlled shock induced oscillations minimize pressure fluctuations in the gas turbine exhaust diffuser such that an unsteadiness of the fluid flow surrounding the turbine exhaust cylinder strut is reduced. A method to fluid flow induced vibrations in a gas turbine diffuser is also provided.

A fuel supply system includes a main fuel line path configured to route a fuel to a combustion inlet region and a secondary fuel line path fluidly coupled to the main fuel line path. The secondary fuel line path is configured to divert a portion of the fuel from the main fuel line path through a first segment of the secondary fuel line path and return the fuel to the main fuel line path through a second segment of the secondary fuel line path. An obstruction mechanism is located proximate the main fuel line path at an obstruction location and is configured to cyclically translate into the main fuel line path to cyclically alter a cross-sectional area of the main fuel line path to effectively oscillate fuel flow pressure into a combustion system.

A gas turbine engine augmentor includes an augmentor outer casing 502 and an annular augmentor liner 504 disposed radially within and radially separated from the augmentor outer casing 502 to form a generally annular augmentor liner cooling flow path 500 between the augmentor casing and the annular augmentor liner, and an augmentor flow splitter duct 506 disposed at the upstream end of the augmentor liner and radially between the augmentor outer casing 502 and the annular augmentor liner 504 and defining a splitter flow path 520 between the annular augmentor liner 504 and the annular augmentor flow splitter duct 506. A method of operating a gas turbofan engine including an augmentor includes directing a portion of fan bypass air into a generally annular augmentor liner cooling flow path 500 between an augmentor outer casing 502 and an annular augmentor liner 504, directing a portion of the air in the augmentor liner cooling flow path 500 into a splitter flow path 520 disposed radially outside the augmentor liner 504 and maintaining positive backflow pressure margin between air flow within the splitter flow path and the augmentor liner cooling flow path 500.

A method comprising performing simulations to determine energy transfer between the bulk fluid motion of gases through a combustion chamber and resonant acoustic modes of the combustion chamber using a simulation model. The method also comprises configuring one or more combustion chamber parameters for the simulation model to shape the resonant acoustic modes to diminish coupling between the resonant acoustic modes and driving mechanisms at a head portion of the combustion chamber and to enhance coupling between the resonant acoustic modes and damping mechanisms at an aft portion of the combustion chamber. The method further comprises determining whether the combustion chamber meets a predetermined performance level in response to determining that the combustion chamber meets a predetermined combustion stability level.
