    摘要: AN INFORMATION DISPLAY OF THE TYPE IN WHICH ALPHANUMERIC CHARACTERS MOVE CONTINUOUSLY ACROSS A VIEWING FIELD. EACH CHARACTER IS FORMED BY THE "SWITCHING" OF AN APPROPRIATE GROUP OF ELEMENTS IN A RECTANGULAR CHARACTER MATRIX. THE ELEMENTS ARE ROTATABLE DISCS, WHICH ARE SWITCHED BY FLIPPING THEM OVER. THE ELEMENT SELECTION LOGIC, AND THE SWITCHING ENERGY AS WELL, IS ACHIEVED THROUGH FLUIDIC MEANS. EACH DISC ELEMENT IS CONFRONTED WITH A POWER JET, AND A CONTROL JET CAPABLE OF CHANGING THE CHARACTER OF THE POWER JET FROM LAMINAR TO TURBULENT. THE DISCS EXPERIENCE A SWITCHING TORQUE WHEN IMPULSED BY A LAMINAR POWER JET, BUT THE TURBULENT CONDITION OF THE POWER JET DISTRIBUTES ITS IMPACT IN SUCH A MANNER THAT THERE IS NO LONGER SUFFICIENT NET TORQUE TO FLIP THE DISC. THUS, BY PROPER SELECTION OF THE CONTROL JETS, AN APPROPRIATE PATTERN OF ELEMENTS CAN BE SWITCHED ON.

    摘要: A liquid level control system for controlling the flow of liquid into a reservoir, storage tank or other container. A nozzle develops a liquid flow stream therethrough, and a valve effectively opens and closes the nozzle. A fluid amplifier is associated with the nozzle and includes a fluid power stream, a signal developing port for receiving a fluid pressure signal from the power stream, and a sensor for diverting the fluid power stream from the signal developing port in response to the static presence of the interface at a predetermined sensing level of liquid in the reservoir. A pressure responsive switch is coupled to the valve and is located below the signal developing port of the fluid amplifier. A pressure signal tube communicates between the signal developing port and the pressure responsive switch to create a hydrostatic pressure head above the switch to maintain the switch and, therefore, the valve in a first condition when the fluid power stream delivers a fluid pressure signal to the signal developing port. A second condition is developed when the fluid power stream is diverted from the signal developing port.

    摘要: A pneumatic display device, comprising a plate block embodying a plurality of superimposed transparent plates, each of these plates being provided with means defining a disc guide channel. Each disc guide channel has a first air channel followed by a supply section for a plurality of non-transparent display discs displaceably arranged in a row therein, a display section following such supply section, said display section being in the form of a trace line for symbolizing a character at the region of a display zone limited by a display window provided at a nontransparent cover plate of the plate block. At the end of the display section such merges into a second air channel. Upon blowing air into the first air channel of a preselected plate the display discs thereof are displaced out of the supply section thereof into the display section thereof and thereby become visible at the display zone in the form of a desired character and upon further blowing air into the second air channel these display discs are again forced back into the supply section of the relevant disc guide channel.

    摘要: A pure fluid display. A thermally sensitive layer whose optical characteristics are a function of temperature is subjected to the impingement of a plurality of fluid sources whose temperature is different from the ambient temperature of the sensitive layer. This produces a temperature pattern on the surface of the sensitive layer which in turn creases a color pattern to correspond to the temperature pattern. The fluid sources, which may comprise the outputs of a plurality of fluid amplifiers, are generally arranged in the form of a two-dimensional array parallel to the surface of the sensitive layer. Coextensive supporting members having low-thermal capacity are provided on both sides of the sensitive layer, the first supporting member being opaque and the second being transparent on the viewing side. A temperature control system is provided to maintain the sensitive layer within a predetermined temperature range.
