    摘要: A display includes at least one electronically controllable pixel which has at least one color level which is formed by a flat container, the interior of which is connected to a color reservoir. The content of the color reservoir can be pressurized by electronic control of an actuating drive, which acts on a movable wall of the color reservoir in such a way that colorant liquid moves from the color reservoir into the color level, and, by reducing the pressure in the color reservoir, the colored liquid is transported back into the color reservoir and a transparent fluid moves into the color level. A wall of the color reservoir faces away from the color level and at least partially forms the movable wall. An actuator of the actuating drive causes the displacement of the movable wall and moves in a plane parallel to the plane of the color reservoir.

    摘要: The apparatus claimed by the invention uses as the display medium colors in the form of colored fluids which are transported by means of transport in a system of compartments within a fluidic chain, whereby they are visible from the direction of an observer only through a single one these compartments (image compartment). Depending on the position of the individual colored fluids, a different color impression is received by the observer. The invention thereby teaches the presence of a fluidic chain in a subpixel and the combination of a plurality of these subpixels in a pixel. The display claimed by the invention consists of a plurality of pixels. With the use of eight colors in connection with an optically created color mixing effect, a color space can be displayed which is sufficient at least for the display of the information typically used on advertising signs.

    摘要: The invention comprises a plurality of interconnected panel elements each having a plurality of generally flat bistable display members arranged thereon in a series of rows and columns. Each display member has one surface which is substantially nonreflecting and generally light absorbing. The opposite surface of each display member is bright or, in many instances, is coated with a fluorescent or a luminescent material particularly adapted for excitation by ultraviolet light to bring it to a highly luminous state for display purposes. A plurality of magnetically operated signal-controlled fluid jets is positioned adjacent to the panel and so located as to be capable of moving selected ones of the bistable display members between the two bistable positions for display. The display members are preferably arranged so that for clearance a complete column of display members can be simultaneously changed to one of the two different positions of stability which may be regarded as a datum state. Following each control of the display column with all display members similarly oriented the next adjacent column may be similarly controlled, and so on. After all display members of the display panel are in like position selective ones of the group may be oriented to the second position so that by relative contrast a message may be displayed. The panels with the messages formed thereon in such fashion are then successively moved through a display region for viewing.
