The present invention provides systems and methods that identify a flow anomaly to an operator or other person by: executing a first device of a plurality of water using devices; receiving flow data on a quantity of water used by the first device during a time period required to generate a first water use signature from the first device; comparing a future water use pattern against the first water use signature to identify a flow anomaly with the first device; and providing information regarding the flow anomaly to the person. Identifying anomalies can be useful in numerous ways, including discovering problems that need fixing, reducing waste, and even calculating appropriate irrigation application rates.

A fluidic memory system which is compatible with conventional fluidic logic elements includes a number of pumps for selectively introducing quanta or segments of any of a plurality of fluids into the input end of a storage tube in response to a digital input signal. The different fluids are generally immiscible as used in the system and are distinguishable from each other by characteristic and detectable differences in a physical property, each fluid being representative of a discrete data level of the input signal. A pattern of fluid quanta is thus formed in sequential relation in the tube to provide a ''''permanent'''' or ''''non-volatile'''' representation of the input signal. The fluids remain separate, although adjacent quanta are contiguous, as they are advanced through the tube. As the fluid pattern is transmitted along the tube the selected physical characteristics of the fluid quanta or segments is sensed by a detector and signals are generated which correspond with the data level of each fluid being sensed. The signal pattern may then be recirculated, or a new pattern may be introduced into the memory tube. Fluids discharged at the output end of the tube may be separated and returned to their respective pumps. Modifications including a scanning system for reading the data at a faster rate then the propagation rate of the individual quanta are also described.

The station includes an input device, responsive to the supervisor, for producing a control signal for controlling the landing of the aircraft; and a transmitting device, coupled to the input device, for communication with the aircraft. The aircraft apparatus includes a receiving device for communication with the station; a logic device, coupled to the receiving device, for controlling the aircraft which is programmed to pilot the aircraft to the vicinity of the airfield. The control signal is selected by the supervisor, based on the supervisor's observations of the aircraft and is transmitted to the logic device; in response thereto, the logic device controls the aircraft.

A technique for providing better detection of close range truck trailers for a motor vehicle with Stop and Go Adaptive Cruise Control determines if a range parameter to a target requires modification if such target is a truck trailer, for example. Truck trailer geometry is such that a standard adaptive cruise control system may have difficulty accurately determining the range to the rearmost position of the truck. The technique determines an initial range from the motor vehicle to a target. Then, the technique determines whether the range rate of the target is above a predetermined rate. When the range rate of the target is not above the predetermined rate, the technique determines whether the initial range to the target is less than a current range to the target. If so, the technique provides an adjusted range, which is then utilized in the control operation of the motor vehicle.

The terminal equipment includes the said input component, for controlling the operations of the terminal equipment, and the display component. The terminal equipment (10) has at least two states, of which in the first, open, state, the terminal equipment implements the operations directed to it through the input component, and in which second, locked, state, the terminal equipment does not implement the operations directed to it through the input component, but instead implements an indicator effect in the input and/or the display component, in order to visualize the input and/or the display component.
