    摘要: The present invention generally relates to a support pole having a spike unit with a prefabricated engaging thread and a method of using the same. The top of the spike unit is internally secured within a bottom opening of the support pole by an epoxy wherein the bottom of the support pole rests on a generally circular ridge of the spike unit. The support pole is especially suitable for use with mailbox posts, birdhouse posts, volleyball posts, fences, or the like. The support pole may be securely inserted or removed from the ground without the need for concrete, shovels and other numerous tools. The support pole has an opening on its exterior side for temporarily receiving a perpendicularly inserted rod which is inserted therein so as to provide leverage for driving the support pole into the ground by rotating the support pole clockwise or counter-clockwise.

    摘要: Design of a 3-D truss structure, including a plurality of coupling nodes and a plurality of struts, is optimized by performing a quantitative optimization of an objective function corresponding to a figure of merit of the design. The quantitative optimization includes: generating a finite element analysis model, the analysis model a 3-D lattice mesh of strut-like finite elements; computing, with the finite element analysis model, a value for the objective function; and optimizing the objective function by executing at least two cycles of an optimization loop. The optimization loop includes a) computing a respective parameter of each strut-like finite element; b) deleting, from the finite element analysis model, selected finite elements for which a resulting mechanical property is less than a threshold; (c) computing an updated value for the objective function; and repeating the optimization loop until the objective function is within a desired tolerance of the specified value.

    摘要: A tube form assembly includes an inner member and an outer member. Each of the inner and outer members has an offset which creates a cavity therebetween. During assembly of the tube form assembly, an adhesive is located in the cavity and squeezed out and through the adjacent bond lines between the inner member and outer member. The pressurization and flow of adhesive outward from the cavity facilitates removal of air bubbles, as well as prevents the introduction of air bubbles into the bond line.

    摘要: An optical mount and mounting system including an optical device, a housing, and a plurality of optical mounts that couple the optical device to the optical housing. Each mount includes a sleeve attached to the optical device and each sleeve includes a bore. Studs are attached to the optical housing and each stud includes an outer bonding surface extending through the bore of each sleeve. Once the optical device is aligned properly, a curable material is deposited into the sleeve and cured between the sleeve and the stud, such that the curable material couples the sleeve and the stud to each other to provide a robust structural joint that minimizes self-induced stresses into the optic. A series of annular conical portions and corresponding surfaces are provided to retain registration of the optical device against dynamic shearing and bending forces. A method of aligning and mounting an optical device is provided.

    摘要: A holder for connecting a module to a component of an aircraft or spacecraft includes a first holder portion having a first adhesive face and a second holder portion having a second adhesive face. The first and second holder portions are movable relative to one another in an initial state of the holder such that a portion of the component can be received between the holder portions so as to glue the holder portions to the component by means of an adhesive layer in each case. The holder has two or more guided parts which are movable relative to one another by means of mutually cooperating guide faces in the initial state of the holder. The guide faces are suitably formed for being glued together using an adhesive. The holder can be used to counter peeling stress of an adhesive connection of the holder in the region of the first and/or second adhesive face.
