Abstract:
A non-whistling corrugated tube is provided having a plurality of rib segments interleaved between a plurality of root segments. Each of the rib segments include a pair of axially converging sidewalls intersecting with an apex wall. The geometry of the tube is such that the rib-to-root volume ratio is in the range of 0.1 to 0.2. Corrugated tubes having these geometric configurations have been found to be superior to conventional corrugated tubing for attenuating airborne noise generated by fluid flow therethrough, i.e., whistling.
Abstract:
A pressure resistant vibration absorbing hose has a hose body including an inner surface rubber layer, a reinforcing layer and an outer surface rubber layer and a joint fitting including a rigid insert pipe and a socket fitting. The joint fitting is attached to a swaged portion of an axial end portion of the hose body by securely swaging the socket fitting thereto. The inner surface rubber layer is formed by molding such that a swaged portion thereof is larger than a main portion thereof in diameter and a wall thickness of the swaged portion is equal to or larger than a wall thickness of the main portion, and after that, the reinforcing layer and the outer surface rubber layer are laminated to construct the hose body.
Abstract:
A flexible conduit for use in a pipe system such as a vehicular exhaust system to provide a torsional or non-torsional joint between two pipes. The conduit has an outer bellows and an inner liner between which a layer of noise/thermal insulation is sandwiched to attenuate noise, resist thermal transmission and dampen vibration.
Abstract:
A cable fastening device comprising at least one connecting piece for fastening a cable to a fastening surface, and at least one binding lug protruding out of the outer surface of the connecting piece, by intermediation of which binding lug one or several cables are fastened to the fastening device, wherein the fastening device comprises a vibration attenuating material layer arranged in between the connecting piece and the fastening surface for the fastening device.
Abstract:
A sound attenuating system is provided for pneumatically powered surgical instruments. In one aspect, the exhaust hose is formed of at least two dissimilar materials to impede the transmission of vibrations or audible noise. In an alternative form, the exhaust hose has proximal and distal portions of dissimilar internal diameters.
Abstract:
A duct system with multiple flex duct sections includes a duct take off, a duct register boot, at least one flexible duct assembly that includes an inlet coupler, an outlet coupler, and a duct section. The inlet coupler and outlet coupler are terminally connected to the duct section completing the flexible duct assembly as the number of duct assemblies determines the length of the duct system. The duct takeoff is mounted to the inlet coupler, and the duct register boot is mounted to the outlet coupler as the duct takeoff is in fluid communication with the duct register boot through the flexible duct assembly. Additionally, an air controlling device can be mounted with respect to three different places, wherein the three different places are in between two couplers, the coupler and the duct takeoff, and the duct register boot and the coupler to improve the efficiency of the duct system.
Abstract:
A fluid transfer pipe (1) comprising opposed ends (3, 5) adapted to be connected to respective pipework, the pipe (1) comprising a longitudinal axis (9), the transverse cross section of the pipe (1) varying along the length of the pipe such that the distance radially outwardly from the longitudinal axis (9) to the inner wall of the pipe (1) is non linear along at least part of the length of the pipe. A fluid attenuator comprising such a pipe is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A torsional vibration damper or other vibration damping device with a rubber vibration absorbing element. The rubber element is a peroxide-cured composition comprising 100 parts of ethylene-alpha-olefin elastomer, and 20 to 100 parts of substantially isobutylene or butene polymer having a viscosity average molecular weight greater than about 5000. The polymer may also be a copolymer of isobutylene and isoprene. The addition of the isobutylene polymer to the ethylene-alpha-olefin elastomer composition increases the vibration damping character of the rubber.
