Abstract: An illustrative example embodiment of a structure for supporting a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) unit includes a frame having support members configured to be situated beneath the HVAC unit to support a weight of the HVAC unit, which is directed in a vertical direction. The frame is at least partially situated in a plane that is perpendicular to the vertical direction. A supply air passage and a return air passage are supported by the frame. The return air passage has a first side and a second side opposite the first side. The first side is oriented at a first oblique angle relative to the plane. The second side is oriented at a second oblique angle relative to the plane. The first oblique angle is different than the second oblique angle.

Abstract: An HVAC system includes an indoor heat-exchange coil disposed between a supply air duct and a return air duct. A damper is disposed in a re-circulation duct and is moveable between an open position and a closed position. A controller is configured to determine if the HVAC system is operating in a heating mode or an air-conditioning mode. Responsive to a determination that the HVAC system is operating in the air-conditioning mode, the controller is configured to determine if the variable-speed indoor circulation fan is operating at a minimum speed and if the relative humidity measured by the humidity sensor is above a pre-determined threshold. Responsive to a determination that the variable-speed indoor circulation fan is operating at the minimum speed and the relative humidity of the enclosed space is above the pre-determined threshold, the controller signals the damper to move to the open position.

Abstract: Provided is a duct damper comprising: a hollow housing provided inside the duct so as to enable ventilation; a blocking plate provided in the housing and opening and closing the hollow; a fastener detachably fixing the blocking plate to the housing; and shape maintaining members respectively provided on the sides of the blocking plate so as to respectively maintain half of the shape formed by the blocking plate. According to the present invention, even if both sides of the blocking plate are bent with a center bar as an axis, since the shape maintaining members half and half support the both sides of the blocking plate, respectively, so as to maintain the shape, vibrations are not generated at either side of the blocking plate, thereby preventing noise.

Abstract: Methods and systems to measure a volumetric fluid flow rate through a fluid flow passage, such as an air handler of a HVAC system, are described. The method may include obtaining a flow rate measurement in a measuring section, and calculating a total flow rate based on a correlation between the obtained flow rate measurement and the total flow rate. The method may also include blocking a portion of the fluid flow passage so that when a minimal volumetric fluid flow rate is provided, the flow rate measurement obtained in the measuring section is at about a minimal sensitivity flow rate requirement.
