Methods, apparatus, and systems for flow measurements by alternating magnetic fields are provided. An example alternating magnetic field flowmeter includes a magnetic token movable within a conduit for guiding a fluid flow (conductive or non-conductive) along a flow path, a magnetic field generator configured to generate alternating magnetic fields within the conduit to move the magnetic token along the flow path with a first flow velocity and opposite to the flow path with a second flow velocity, a detector configured to measure respective first and second electrical signals responsive to the alternating magnetic fields, the first and second electrical signals associated with the first and second flow velocities, and a processor configured to determine a flow rate of the fluid based on the first and second electrical signals. The alternating magnetic field flowmeter can include a calibrator configured to manually or automatically calibrate the flow rate with a correction factor.

A measuring device, measuring arrangement and a method for determining a measured quantity. The measuring device a sensor device, an evaluation device and an interface. The sensor device generates measurement information which is dependent on the measured quantity and the evaluation device determines a result value for the measured quantity. To devise a measuring device which manages with a limited power demand and storage demand and which also allows a complex evaluation for obtaining the result value for the measured quantity, the evaluation device of the measuring device outputs the measurement information or information dependent on it via the interface to a separate data device of the measuring arrangement, receives intermediate information from the data device which is generated depending on the measurement information or the information dependent on it and determines the result value based on the intermediate information.

A flow measuring device for measuring flow of a fluid. A housing has a passage which extends between an inlet and an outlet. A shaft is disposed within the housing and is rotatable about a central axis. A flow detector is mounted on the shaft and disposed at least partially within the passage. The flow detector includes a rotatable, generally cylindrical body that rotates about a central axis as the fluid flows. A magnet is disposed within the housing such that the central axis extends through it, and is configured to rotate simultaneously with the body about the central axis. A magnetic encoder is disposed within the housing and configured to sense rotation of the magnet as the flow detector angularly displaces about the central axis so as to detect angular displacement of the flow detector.

An apparatus used in the medical industry, in order to increase transpulmonary pressure and respiratory volumes, to improve inspiratory muscle performance and re-establish the normal pulmonary hyperinflation, through the employment of electronic technology, providing audible, simulated, verbal, human sounding words, that assist, guide and prompt, increasing patient usage. In one embodiment, the Incentive Spirometer uses a capacitive sensing circuit for sensing movement of the float within the tube wall and for obtaining a measurement or reading of the patient's performance with the Incentive Spirometer. A tilt switch can also be included to prevent a patient from turning the Incentive Spirometer upside down.

The present invention provides apparatus for measuring volumetric or mass flow of fluid. The apparatus comprises a capsule that is adapted to move upwardly and downwardly within a housing and receive fluid from a tube. The apparatus further comprises force exerting means and preferably a magnetic means that is adapted to exert force on the capsule, the force is proportional to a position of the capsule within the housing. The force is measurable and controllable. A seal is provided in the capsule's bottom opening so as to fluidically block the capsule and a pin is provided so as to push aside the seal when the capsule is downwardly positioned and is filed with fluid so as to drain it. The number of times the capsule is drained in a predetermined time can be calculated so as to attain the volumetric flow rate of the fluid through the apparatus.

This DigiFlux™ digital gas flow sensor (DigiFlux™) can measure the gas flow by its Hall effect gas sensor. DigiFlux™ [FIG. 1] is based on the Hall effect. In DigiFlux™, an air-float with a small magnetic-iron attached to its bottom, is upright on a Hall effect sensor made by a conductor with I/O connector. When the air-float moves up or down caused by the gas influx pressure, the magnetic-iron in the bottom of air-float will cause electromagnetic sense, and will generate Hall voltage (Vh) signal on Hall effect sensor. The Vh signal will be sent to amplifier then to the MCU/DSP for analog-to-digital conversion, then the gas influx flow will be sensed as digital signal and can be processed by MCU/DSP. Based on functional program one can set different modes to measure gas flow. DigiFlux™ can measure gas flow with high-precision even with a small influx of gas.

A target flow meter has a target with a broad face attached to the free end of a rigid stalk. A fixed end of the stalk is attached to a rigid support secured in the system to be measured with the broad face of the target disposed transverse to the fluid flow. The support and the stalk may be made in one piece. Recesses in the support at the junction with the stalk, one upstream, and one downstream of the flow may reduce the thickness of the support so that bending of the support in response to flow forces is concentrated at the recesses. Strain gauges are attached to the support at the recess areas to measure target movement. The support is sealed to the fluid chamber with the gauges outside the fluid chamber. The recesses in the support may be on the fluid side or the outside of the support.

A measuring apparatus (1) for determining the flow (Q) of a fluid (2). The apparatus has a hollow body (3), with an inflow (4) and an outflow (5) for the fluid (2). A magnetic sample (6) is movably arranged in the hollow body (3) and can be acted upon with a working pressure by the fluid (2). The measuring apparatus (1) further has at least one position sensor (7) to determine the position of the magnetic sample (6), an electromagnet (8) to exert a magnetic force on the magnetic sample (6), and a control device (9) for the electromagnet (8) which is connected signal-wise to the position sensor (7). The control device (9) includes regulating means (10) which control the electromagnet (8) with the aid of a signal of the position sensor (7) so that the magnetic sample (6) is held in a position (X) against the working pressure, with the magnetic sample (6) being designed and arranged such that the fluid (2) can flow through the hollow body (3) from the inflow (4) to the outflow (5).

A flow meter comprises a housing with a tube, a floater inside the tube, and a permanent magnet embracing the housing. The volume of a fluid being passed through the tube defines the height of the floater position in the tube. The floater is equipped with a rotation coil and bulb connected thereto. Rotating the floater in the magnetic field of the permanent magnet under the influence of a fluid induces a voltage in the coil, and the bulb is turned on making reading volume values easier and more convenient.
