    摘要: A method determines the tack of a material placed in contact with a surface. A sample is provided of the material, the sample including a sheet whose width increases from a first narrow end to a second wide end. The sample is applied to an upwards facing supporting surface of plate. The sample is compacted against the supporting surface of plate and a weight is attached to the first end of the sample. The plate is turned over in such a way that the supporting surface faces downwards. The detachment of the sample from the supporting surface is measured in terms of distance detached from the first end of the sample as a function of time.

    摘要: The present invention provides a test specimen configured for mechanical load life characterization testing of a dual wall bonded airfoil for use in a turbomachinery device. The dual wall bonded airfoil has a spar and a skin bonded to the spar. The test specimen includes a main stress body, which includes a test spar component configured to represent the spar of the dual wall bonded airfoil; a test skin component configured to represent the skin of the dual wall bonded airfoil; and a test bond joint bonding the skin component to the spar component. The test bond joint is configured to represent the actual bond joint between the spar and the skin of the dual wall bonded airfoil. The test specimen is structured to simulate the dual wall bonded airfoil for testing in a mechanical testing machine.

    摘要: A test coupon for metal matrix composites is provided with means for structurally isolating the reinforcing fibers in the gage section from the reinforcing fibers in the clamped end regions of the coupon, when the latter is subjected to creep testing, so that the results of creep testing can be more accurately indicative of the creep properties associated with the fiber-reinforced metal matrix composite material in the coupon gage section. More particularly, the test coupon of the invention is provided with a plurality of slots or cut-out regions disposed in a section located between the clamped end regions and the centrally located gage section. The plurality of slots, which can be provided in longitudinally and/or laterally staggered arrays, effectively causes structural isolation of the reinforcing fibers in the gage section from the clamped reinforcing fibers located in the end regions of the coupon.

    摘要: A bi-axial testing apparatus, system and method may be used with known uni-axial material testing machines to perform biaxial displacement control (e.g., compressive and/or tensile) testing on a specimen. As such, the apparatus, system and method may be capable of providing bi-axial compressive or tensile loads with uni-axial motion and only one actuator. The specimen may be a cubic specimen including, without limitation, 3D printed cellular materials, composite materials, foams, bio-medical materials, and the like. The apparatus generally includes a first or top fixture forming a first re-entrant surface and a second or bottom fixture forming a second re-entrant surface. When the fixtures are mounted, the re-entrant surfaces form a testing space in the center to accommodate a specimen to be tested and the re-entrant surfaces provide testing forces in two axes in response to an actuator providing motion of at least one of the fixtures in one axis.
