    摘要: A cross-coil type measuring instrument which is employed as an engine tachometer for instance. A cross-coil type measuring instrument includes a cross-coil type measuring unit having a pair of coils arranged crossed forming a predetermined angle with each other, and a movable magnet magnetized bi-polar which is set rotatable by the magnetic action of said pair of coils, a driving circuit for producing polarized drive signals which are different from each other in phase and change in response to variation in values to be measured, and a constant voltage source for supplying a first constant voltage to the driving unit, the first constant voltage being switched to a second constant voltage periodically in response to a switching signal. Due to the switching of the constant voltage, the amount of power supplied to the cross coils can be made smaller resulting in reducing the amount of heat generated therein as much.

    摘要: A pulse-width modulation system provides means for controlling dual-coil, air-core gauges at a various rates over 360 degrees. The system moves a dial needle from one octant of the gauge to the next in response to coded data representing measurands by holding one coil at 100% duty cycle while applying a PWM of a varying duty signal to the other coil. When the magnitude of the measurand dictates that the needle should move into another octant of the dial, the PWM signal and the 100% duty cycle signal are interchanged between the coils in a manner permitting the needle to move to other octants of the dial. The system includes a variable PWM count clock that permits selecting at least PWM rates and periods for forming PWM duty cycles ranging from 0% to 100%.

    摘要: An apparatus for driving a gauge having coils in quadrature to generate a resultant magnetic field in accordance with currents applied thereto and having a pointer angularly swept by the field, the apparatus having a memory to store a first data defining a relationship between a first level, indicative of the current applied to one of the coils, and an angle of the pointer. The first level has a continous waveform varying in isoceles trapezoid form over an angle range of 0.degree. to 180.degree.. The first data varies symmetrically with the isoceles trapezoid wave at the 180.degree. pointer angle over an angle range of 180.degree. to 360.degree.. The memory is arranged to store second data defining a relationship between a second level indicative of the current applied to the other coil and the pointer angle. The second level has a continuous waveform phase shifted by 90.degree. from the continuous waveform of the first data. The apparatus also has an output generator to generate output signals indicative of first and second levels related to the first and second data. A driving circuit is responsive to the output signals to drive the coils with currents proportional to the first and second levels. Each continuous waveform of the first and second data is modified so as to be cut triangularly at its corner portions.

    摘要: An air core gage having a pair of coils in quadrature to drive a pointer has the first coil energized by a relatively constant reference current while the second coil is energized by a current which varies as a tangent function of the input quantity in order to drive the pointer through an octant of the gage. The current polarity to the second coil is reversed and the current is again varied in the same manner to vary the pointer through a second octant. Then, the reference current is applied to the second coil and the current is varied in the first coil according to the tangent function to drive the pointer through a third octant, and so on for a wide angle pointer drive. When the input quantity is a frequency, the driving circuit is conveniently a digital circuit including a ROM which stores the tangent function of the input quantity and a steering logic circuit which selectively applies the steady state and the variable signals to the gage coils to effect the appropriate pointer movement.
