摘要: A self-excited microelectromechanical device is described. The device includes a resonating structure, such as a cantilever, which responds to a physical phenomenon by generating an induced variable frequency voltage signal corresponding to the physical phenomenon. Self-excitation circuitry connected to the cantilever processes the induced variable frequency voltage signal and produces a variable frequency voltage signal in a resonant pass band of interest that is applied to the cantilever to augment the effect of the physical phenomenon on the cantilever. An exemplary use of the device is as a power line sensor. In this context, the cantilever responds to the electric field associated with a power signal on a power line. The cantilever transforms the voltage signal of the electric field into a corresponding frequency signal. The noise-immune frequency signal can be readily transmitted and processed to reconstruct the power signals carried by the power line. When the device is used as a power line sensor, the self-excitation circuitry can be powered by a voltage established through differential electrostatic fields created by the power line. Thus, the device can operate on the power line without an internal power supply.

摘要: A method of interrogating a surface acoustic wave differential sensor formed by two resonators is provided, wherein the method allows the measurement of a physical parameter by determination of the difference between the natural resonant frequencies of the two resonators, which difference is determined on the basis of the analysis of a signal representative of the level of a signal received as echo of an interrogation signal, for a plurality of values of a frequency of the interrogation signal in a domain of predetermined values; the analysis can be based on the cross-correlation of the said signal representative of the level according to a splitting into two distinct frequency sub-bands. An advantage is that it may be implemented in a radio-modem.

摘要: This invention relates to improved sheet products and specifically to improved nonwoven sheet products made from highly oriented plexifilamentary film-fibril webs. The improved sheet products have high opacity and strength with a much wider range of porosity or Gurley Hill Porosity Values. In particular, sheet products made in accordance with the present invention have considerably higher Gurley Hill Porosity Values than similar weight sheet products subject to the same finishing treatments in accordance with prior known sheet materials. Similarly, sheet products made in accordance with the present invention can be made which have much lower Gurley Hill Porosity Values than prior sheet materials. The invention includes numerous methods and data characterizing the webs and sheets that form the improved sheet materials.

摘要: This invention provides a sensor array using a plurality of fiber optic sensors connected between transmit fibers and receive fibers. The laser transmitter supplies pulses to the transmit fiber and fiber optic couplers couple the pulses from the transmit fiber into the fiber optic sensors. The pulses from the laser transmitter may be frequency chirped or frequency stepped to provide passive sampling of interferometric sensors in addition to intensity sensors, or otherwise frequency modulated. Each sensor is configured to respond to changes in a predetermined physical parameter by altering the shape of the pulse input thereto. Fiber optic couplers couple the sensor output signals into the receive fiber for input to a receiver, which converts the optical signals into electrical signals for input to a processer. A timing reference correlates the sensor output pulses with the sensors.
