    摘要: The present invention relates to a geological system. The system includes an apparatus for use when scanning an uneven geological surface and that need not contact the geological surface. The apparatus includes a light source for providing light. A reflector is provided for reflecting incident light onto the geological surface, and for reflecting reflected light from the geological surface. The apparatus also includes optical fibre means for receiving the reflected light from the reflector. The system includes moving means for moving the apparatus along the uneven geological surface during scanning. Advantageously, the apparatus does not require physical sampling of material along a hole, and may instead move along the hole at very fast speeds (typically up to between 2 to 4 m/s) whilst obtaining hyperspectral radiometric data. The apparatus may be low cost, and may include no radioactive materials, so that there is little concern or business interruption if it is lost down a hole.

    摘要: A safety scanner (10) is set forth for securing a monitored zone (18), wherein the safety scanner (10) has a light transmitter (12) for transmitting a light beam (14), a deflection unit (16) for the periodic deflection of the light beam (14) into the monitored zone (18), a light receiver (24) for generating received signals from the light beam (20) remitted by objects in the monitored zone (18) as well as an evaluation unit (30) which is made to recognize intrusions into a protected field within the monitored zone (18) with reference to the received signals and thereupon to provide a securing signal, except for the case that the intrusion can be associated with an expected dangerous object (40). In this respect, the evaluation unit (30) is made to track the dangerous object (40) in the protected field and to carry out the association of intrusions with the expected dangerous object (40) with reference to the contour and to the then current position, orientation and/or speed of the dangerous object (40).

    摘要: An optical sensor arrangement includes a transmitter that emits light rays and a receiver that receives light rays reflected from an object. A deflection unit deflects the transmitted light rays to periodically sweep across a monitoring range. An evaluation unit stores parameters of several safety zones that form respectively predetermined areas of the monitoring range. An object detection signal is generated in the evaluation unit in dependence on receiving signals at the receiver output, which object detection signal indicates whether or not an object is located within an activated safety zone. A communication interface is coupled to the evaluation unit and is operative for bi-directional data transmission with an external unit. At least one of the stored safety zones is activated by reading into the evaluation unit activation signals from the external unit via the communication interface.

    摘要: A light curtain for scanning rectangular openings with an oscillating light beam originating in a corner of the opening. A photo-detector is placed in the same corner. Retroreflectors, such as triple reflectors are placed on adjacent sides of the opening which are opposite the light source for reflecting light back to the photo-sensor. Above a critical reflection angle for the retroreflector, a plane mirror is provided which directs light from the source to the retroreflector on the adjacent side so that light impinging on the mirror at an angle exceeding the critical angle is received by the adjacent retroreflector at an angle that is within the critical angle. Consequently, such light is reflected via the plane mirror back to the photo-sensor. The light can be modulated to facilitate the monitoring of the area encompassed by the opening.
