This invention minimizes the needed space for a changer device for optical elements which can be mounted in front or in the back or on either fork side of telescopes. It implements a design whose profile is circular and centrosymmetric and gravitanionally neutral in respect to the path of light of the surrounding optical devices as well as an optimized mechanical depth. This is achieved by moving the centrosymmetrically arranged optical elements individually into the optical path i.e. the central opening of the changing device in contrary to prior art designs wherein the optical elements are mounted on a revolving disk whose axis of rotation is not congruent with the optical axis. The invention minimizes the obstructing area and shape of the changing device as well as the gravitational stress on surrounding structures by incorporating a design with minimal space requirements.

The present invention provides a flip-flop diagonal with variable viewing angles. It comprises a housing body, an eyepiece adapter unit and a reflective mirror unit. The housing body has a cylindrical sleeve for mounting the diagonal to a telescope. The eyepiece adapter unit includes an eyepiece adapter and an eyepiece support frame, the eyepiece adapter is fixed on the eyepiece support frame, the eyepiece support frame is pivotably mounted on the housing body. The reflective mirror unit includes a reflective mirror, a mirror support bracket and rotary shafts, the reflective mirror is mounted in the mirror support bracket, and the mirror support bracket is pivotally mounted on the eyepiece support frame through the rotary shafts. With the flip-flop diagonal according to the present invention, when observing the sky through the refracting astronomical telescope, wherever the target is, the eyepiece can be located in different positions only by changing the angles of the eyepiece adapter. Therefore, the number of the telescope accessories can be reduced, and, on the other hand, the observation is more convenient.

A pre-assembled pivoting lens unit is disclosed that includes a pivot cartridge capable of being at least partially received by an optical sighting device housing, along with a pivot tube defining a first end movably coupled to the pivot cartridge and a second end capable of moving transversely to the longitudinal axis of the device housing. Disposed in the pivot tube between the first and second ends is a lens assembly capable of focusing an image when the lens unit is at least partially received by the device housing. A fastener is used to secure the pivot cartridge to the first end of the pivot tube, and a resilient member interposes the fastener and pivot tube first end to enable relative pivoting movement of the pivot tube.
