摘要： Disclosed is an embosser for producing matte finish photographs from a glossy finish photograph. The embosser receives a sheet of glossy prints as generated by an inkjet printer with a clear laminate over the print to protect the inkjet generated photographic image. Pressure and embossing rollers biased to spaced apart positions within the embosser are selectively operable to move one against the other to create a nip through which the laminated print passes. At the option of an operator the laminated print may be allowed to pass between the spaced apart rollers undisturbed thereby generating a glossy photograph. At the option of the operator the rollers are moved one against the other to create the nip so that passage of the print now results in an embossment of the lamination thereby producing a matte finish photograph. Also disclosed is a method for alternatively generating a glossy or matte finish print and a matte finished print wherein the matte finish is formed in situ.

摘要： An apparatus and method for applying at least one coating solution of a predetermined viscosity to a photosensitive material. The apparatus includes at least an application roller which is adapted to apply the coating solution onto the photosensitive material. A solution supply guide is positioned relative to the application roller to supply coating solution onto the application roller. The apparatus and method further includes a washing arrangement for washing the coating apparatus in an efficient manner. The washing arrangement includes a movable scrubber bar arrangement which retracts away from the application roller when the coating apparatus is in a coating mode of operation, and is movable to contact the application roller by way of brushes in a cleaning mode of operation. The apparatus and method further includes a recirculation system which alternatively supplies coating solution to the supply guide and cleaning solution to at least the washing arrangement.

摘要： A print holder device for storage of film prints including a base and a pair of oppositely disposed walls projecting upwardly therefrom adapted for supporting one or more film prints thereon. Each of the walls is provided with one or more slots with the slots in one wall being aligned with and oppositely disposed with respect to the slots in the opposite wall. A support plate is provided which extends between the walls having its opposed edges disposed within the respective aligned slots being adapted to support a film print thereon to enable print coater to be applied thereto and dried thereon immediately after removing the print from a camera. 摘要： A seal to permit the passage of material, such as a continuous web bearing a layer of coating composition, between two zones at different gas pressures comprises a narrow passageway in communication with the two zones, a plurality of transverse ribs spaced along the longitudinal extent of the passageway, and a plurality of spaced apertures located within the troughs between adjacent ribs and communicating with a vacuum manifold for withdrawing gas from the passageway to provide a progressive change in pressure from a value at the inlet to the passageway equivalent to the pressure in the zone from which material is being transported to a value at the outlet from the passageway equivalent to the pressure in the zone into which the material is being transported. In a preferred embodiment, the seal is comprised of a smooth arcuate plate and a curved castellated shoe positioned opposite and in close proximity to the plate to define a narrow arcuate passageway therebetween. The seal is especially useful in the vacuum drying of web material having a surface coating which is especially susceptible to damage, such as a web consisting of a support coated with one or more layers of photographic emulsion.
