    摘要: A transfer means has a film lightly contacting a back surface of a transfer medium and applying a transfer field thereto. The film rises rapidly with respect to a contact portion with the back surface of the transfer medium on the upstream side of the direction of movement of the transfer medium relative to the film, and slopes gently from the contact portion in a continuous curve on a downstream side of the direction of movement. The film is capable of displacement between a support and an image carrier, and contacts and disengages the transfer medium according to the presence or absence of electrostatic adsorptive force due to the supply or withdrawal of an electric current.

    摘要: A method and device for transferring toner image from the surface of a photosensitive plate to a sheet of paper. The transfer device comprises a substrate having volume resistivity of 10.sup.6 to 10.sup.16 .OMEGA..cm and surface resistivity of 10.sup.6 to 10.sup.16 .OMEGA., an elongated conductive member laid on the substrate and a coating layer having volume resistivity of more than 10.sup.11 .OMEGA..cm and surface resistivity of more than 10.sup.11 .OMEGA.. A narrow electric field is created between the elongated conductive member and the surface of the photosensitive plate by applying high DC voltage across the elongated conductive member and a conductive substrate of the photosensitive plate whereby the toner image is transferred from the photosensitive plate to the sheet of paper due to this narrow electric field.

The support member is arranged relative to the sheet member in such a manner that a region between a first position and a second position of the sheet member is in contact with neither the intermediate transfer belt nor the support member.

    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes an image bearing member for bearing a toner image; a rotatable intermediary transfer member; and a transfer unit, configured and positioned to form a transfer nip between the intermediary transfer member and the image bearing member, for transferring the toner image from the image bearing member onto a surface of the intermediary transfer member. The transfer unit includes a sheet member on which the intermediary transfer member is slidable, and includes an elastic member for urging the sheet member toward the intermediary transfer member at a position of the transfer nip. The sheet member is provided with a reinforcing portion, having a linear expansion coefficient different from that of the sheet member, in an area in which the elastic member urges the sheet member.
