Abstract:
Disclosed are method and apparatus for operating a multi-stage process. The stages of the process are carried out in a plurality of modules arranged in sequence to receive individual batches of goods to be processed. Formulas may be devised whereby particular process steps may be effected in the various modules on particular batches of goods which determine the choice of formula. In a particular embodiment disclosed, a controller operates a continuous batch washing system according to formulas devised to operate the modules of the washing system to accommodate particular wash requirements of the batches of goods. Continuous access to the controller is provided for modification of the formulas.
Abstract:
Unauthorized installation of software is prevented even at a production site at which software cannot be installed through a communication line. The memory card stores: additional software including a software ID; a recording medium ID; and encrypted information generated by encrypting the software ID, using the recording medium ID as a key. The controller performs the steps of: obtaining the encrypted information from the memory card; obtaining the recording medium ID from the memory card; obtaining the software ID by decrypting the encrypted information, using the recording medium ID as a key; obtaining the software ID from the additional software, comparing the decrypted software ID and the software ID obtained from the additional software; and storing the additional software in the storage when the comparison is successful.
Abstract:
Unauthorized access to modules, especially modules in automation systems, is prevented by controlling access between modules and a central processing unit. At least one first device transmits an identifier to at least one of the central processing unit and a second device which evaluate(s) the identifier by comparison with at least one comparative identifier stored in the at least one of the central processing unit and the second device. Operation of the first device on the system is denied by the at least one of the central processing unit and the second device if the received identifier does not correspond to the comparative identifier.
Abstract:
A control circuit is provided in an electronic sewing machine wherein a specific stitch pattern is selected from a plurality of stitch patterns stored in an electronic memory, by selection of a corresponding pattern number which is then indicated at a digital indicator arranged on a front panel of the machine housing. A possible incomplete or incorrect selection of a pattern number will cause the selected pattern number indicated at the digital indicator to blink, thus giving a cautionary notice to the machine operator and, at the same time, will cause the sewing machine to stop from further stitching operation.
