Abstract:
A method operates an industrial control system, which includes at least one stationary control device and at least one control-technology-based manual operator-control instrument, which can be carried by an operator-control person. In at least one of the manual operator-control instruments, at least one data-technology-based identifier is resident, which represents at least the respective hardware version and the respective software status of the respective manual operator-control instrument. The mode of response of the respective control device or of the entire control system in relation to reliability or non-reliability of the establishment of a control-technology-based interaction, in relation to functional response during an active control-technology-based interaction and in relation to functional response in connection with a termination of a control-technology-based interaction between the respective control device and the manual operator-control instrument is determined or influenced in dependence on this data-technology-based identifier. In addition, a correspondingly constructed control system is specified.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an operating unit (1) for a production plant (2). The operating unit (1) comprises an authorization receiving module (71) so as to receive authorization identifications (61, 62, 63, 64) which are sent out by operating modules (51, 52, 53, 54) of the operating unit (1), an authorization storage module (72) so as to store in an authorization data storage (8) authorization data including allocations of user identifications (31, 32, 33, 34, 41, 42) to the received authorization identifications (61, 62, 63, 64), and an authorization checking module (73) so as to receive at least one authorization identification (61, 62, 63, 64) from the operating modules (51, 52, 53, 54) and to determine at least one user identification (31, 32, 33, 34, 41, 42), and to unlock an operating module (51, 52, 53, 54) if in the authorization data storage (8) an allocation of the at least one user identification (31, 32, 33, 34, 41, 42) to the at least one authorization identification (61, 62, 63, 64) is stored.
Abstract:
A setup control unit is configured to get activated via a first computer that is to become a node in the process control system and which activation is initiated by a setup tool being brought to the first computer. The setup control unit contacts a configuration control computer, supplies a setup tool identifier to the configuration control computer, accesses system information elements in the configuration control computer, presents system nodes to an operator using the system information elements, receives an operator selection of a system node, sends the node selection to the configuration control computer for registering, based on a setup tool identifier investigation, receives node parameter data associated with the selected system node from the configuration control computer and supplies the first computer with the node parameter data for making it into the selected system node.
Abstract:
A system for communicating with a motion control system, comprising a set of motion operations, a set of functions, a set of security levels, and client software. The functions are capable of causing the motion control system to perform at least one motion operation. The client software is capable of calling at least one of the functions. The ability of the client software to call at least one of the functions is restricted based on at least one of the security levels.
Abstract:
Example methods and apparatus to manage data uploading in a process control environment are disclosed. A disclosed example method includes receiving a request to upload a parameter value associated with a process control system and retrieving an upload rule profile associated with the process control system. The example method also includes identifying an upload action from the upload rule profile based on the parameter value and a personnel classification, and determining whether to upload the parameter value based on the upload action.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for recovering a personal identification number. A method, includes: comprising recovering from a lost personal identification number situation and restoring programmability to a device, including: generating a SEED PIN using the device calculating a KEY PIN using an algorithm within a code of the device and storing the KEY PIN in the device, without displaying the KEY PIN, wherein the KEY PIN is a function at-least-in-part of both the SEED PIN and an identifier associated with the device; sending the SEED PIN and the identifier associated with the device to an authenticating source; recalculating the KEY PIN at the authenticating source using the algorithm within the code and the SEED PIN and the other identifying information; receiving the KEY PIN from the authenticating source; and entering the KEY PIN into the device to temporarily assign hierarchical access to a user.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described for an adaptive hierarchy usage monitoring HVAC control system. A method, includes: regulating user access to at least one menu of an interactive user interface of a programmable digital thermostat, including: reversibly defining at least one minimum user level required to access the at least one menu.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a field device for automation systems, comprising a unit for internal data organisation, means for recording process parameters and/or means for outputting regulation parameters, means for processing signals according to the recorded regulation parameters or the regulation parameters to be output, and at least one communication interface. The means and the communication interface thus communicate with a unit for internal data organisation in order to exchange data between each other. A transaction manager unit, which is provided to control blockings, transactions and/or users, is used to control the access via the means and via the at least one communication interface to the data of the unit for internal data organisation between the means, the at least one communication interface and the unit for internal data communication.
Abstract:
A personalization system for vehicles uses a CD player and a keyless entry transmitter. The CD player outputs audible prompting signals including accessory operation choices. The driver selects accessory operation by pressing the "LOCK" or "UNLOCK" switch on the keyless entry key fob following an associated audio prompting signal. A controller coupled to the CD player receives a selection signal from the keyless entry key fob and associates the receipt of the selection signal with an index corresponding to the audio prompting signal last output by the CD player. The controller controls accessory operation according to the accessory options selected responsive to the audible prompting signal.
