    摘要: An adapter for coupling to a process control transmitter of the type used to monitor a process variable in an industrial process includes a first connection configured to couple to a first side of a two wire process control loop, a second connection configured to couple to a second side of the two wire process control loop and in series with a first connection to a process control transmitter, and a third connection configured to couple to a second connection of the process control transmitter. Wireless communication circuitry is coupled to at least the third connection and is configured to provide wireless communication for the process control transmitter. Intrinsic safety circuitry coupled to at least one of the first, second and third connections is configured to limit transfer of electrical energy to a value which is less than an intrinsic safety value.

    摘要: A power regulator includes an initial input, an output, a feedback input, and a comparison circuit. The initial input is configured to receive loop current at an insertion voltage. The output is configured to deliver charging power. The charging power changes at least partially in response to a change in the loop current. The comparison circuit is in electrical communication with the feedback input and is configured to regulate the insertion voltage. A wireless communication device is in electrical communication with the output of the power regulator and is configured to be powered by the charging power.

    摘要: A power management circuit includes a power regulator and a wireless communication device. The power regulator is configured to maintain a voltage level at an input and includes an input and an output. The input is configured to receive a current signal communicated between a power supply and a field device. The output is configured to deliver charging power. The wireless communication device is in electrical communication with the power regulator and is configured to receive the charging power from the power regulator to power the wireless communication device. The charging power is generated from the voltage level at the input and the current signal. The charging power also changes in response to a change in the current signal. Process control systems and methods are also provided.

    摘要: A field device for use in an industrial process control or monitoring system includes terminals configured to connect to a two-wire process control loop configured to carry data and to provide power. In one embodiment, RF circuitry in the field device is configured for radio frequency communication having variable power consumption. In another embodiment, the RF circuitry is coupled to the field device through a separate digital communication bus. A method of modulating the power of RF communication based upon a process communication signal is also provided.
