摘要: The disclosed computer-implemented method for load balancing backup data may include (1) receiving a request to backup files in a multi-node computing cluster, (2) identifying a backup distribution of the files among multiple backup clients, (3) reading an initial data block of a current file from a data node in the cluster, (4) reading a copy of the initial data block of an additional file from another data node in the cluster, (5) reading a subsequent data block of the current file from the data node in the cluster, and (6) balancing backup of the current and additional files among the data node and the another data node by reading a copy of a subsequent backup data block of the additional file from the another data node in the multi-node computing cluster. Various other methods, systems, and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

摘要: Technology is disclosed for managing data in a distributed file system (“the technology”). The technology can gather metadata information associated with the data stored within the distributed file system, create a secondary namespace within a local file system of a local host using the gathered metadata information and store the gathered metadata information as files within the secondary namespace. Further, when a request to create a PPI of the distributed file system is received, the technology can create a PPI of the secondary namespace using a PPI creation feature of the local file system.

摘要: A redundant array of independent nodes are networked together. Each node executes an instance of an application that provides object-based storage. Metadata objects are stored in a set of regions distributed among the nodes across the array. A given region is identified by hashing a metadata object attribute and extracting a given set of bits of a resulting hash value. A method of managing query results comprises: receiving, by a first node of the plurality of independent nodes from a client application, a request for a list of objects with a criterion; issuing by the first node a query to all the nodes based on the received request; processing the query by each node over the regions in the node using the metadata objects stored in the regions; aggregating and filtering by the first node results of the query from all the nodes; and returning by the first node the aggregated and filtered results to the client application.

摘要: Asynchronous namespace maintenance in a distributed replicated data storage system is disclosed. An access device/program serving as a front end to the distributed replicated data storage system updates a batch of updated meta data about stored data items when data items are stored in the distributed replicated data storage system. When the elapsed time since the last batch of data item meta data was stored exceeds a first threshold value or the current batch size exceeds a second threshold value, the access device/program stores the current batch of updated meta data as an object in the distributed replicated data storage system, receiving a batch object identifier for the stored batch of updated meta data, and distributes the batch object identifier to other access devices and/or access programs which retrieve the batch of updated meta data and update their namespaces.

摘要: A system and a method are disclosed for pre-seeding data to backup servers and determining servers for additional backups. Backup data is received from a client device through a first backup request and sent to a primary server for storage. Additional backup data from a second backup request is received. After the initial backup data is stored on the primary server and pre-seeded by the primary server on a secondary server, a status of backup servers associated with the client device is received. The backup servers include the primary server and can include the secondary server. Responsive to the status indicating availability of a server in the backup servers, a recipient server is identified from the backup servers and the additional backup data is sent to the identified recipient server.

摘要: Embodiments of the present invention provide a mechanism for converting an existing mirror relationship between an original dataset at a source storage system and a copy of the original dataset at a destination system to a new mirror without discarding the existing copy of the original dataset and without transferring data to create a new dataset to replace the copy of the original dataset at the destination storage system. Rather, a directory structure (including file attributes) of the source storage system is transferred to the destination storage system and a comparison is made to identify file attributes at the destination system that match the transferred file attributes. If a match is found, a mapping between the matched file attributes is created. Subsequent updates to the to destination storage system can be done using a technique other than the one that was used to create a copy of the source dataset.

摘要: Performing data management operations on replicated data in a computer network. Log entries are generated for data management operations of an application executing on a source system. Consistency point entries are used to indicate a time of a known good, or recoverable, state of the application. A destination system is configured to process a copy of the log and consistency point entries to replicate data in a replication volume, the replicated data being a copy of the application data on the source system. When the replicated data represents a known good state of the application, as determined by the consistency point entries, the destination system(s) may perform a storage operation (e.g., snapshot, backup) to copy the replicated data and to logically associate the copied data with a time information (e.g., time stamp) indicative of the source system time when the application was in the known good state.

Based on access history information stored in an access history recording unit, trigger information, concerning timing for execution of conversion to the target data structure performed asynchronously by the data node is changed.
