摘要: A memory system includes an interface circuit configured to connect to a host device, a controller electrically connected to the interface circuit, and a nonvolatile semiconductor memory electrically connected to the controller. The controller is configured to transmit a first response in response to a power supplied from the host device via the interface circuit, upon receipt of a first command from the host device after transmitting the first response, determine a status of data stored in the nonvolatile semiconductor memory, and transmit to the host device a second response including the determined status of the data stored in the nonvolatile semiconductor memory.

摘要: Methods, systems, and computer program products for preventing non-detectable data loss during site switchover are disclosed. A computer-implemented method may include receiving a request to perform a switchover from a first node to a second node, determining whether to place a storage volume involved in the switchover in a suspended state, setting the storage volume in the suspended state based on determining that the storage volume is to be placed in the suspended state, and maintaining the storage volume in the suspended state after completing the switchover. In an example, the storage volume may be placed in a suspended state based on examining a volume-specific attribute indicating whether the storage volume is to be suspended when involved in a switchover. In one example, each storage volume involved in a switchover may be placed in a suspended state when indicated as part of a switchover request.

摘要: Provided are techniques for destaging pinned retryable data in cache. A ranks scan structure is created with an indicator for each rank of multiple ranks that indicates whether pinned retryable data in a cache for that rank is destageable. A cache directory is partitioned into chunks, wherein each of the chunks includes one or more tracks from the cache. A number of tasks are determined for the scan of the cache. The number of tasks are executed to scan the cache to destage pinned retryable data that is indicated as ready to be destaged by the ranks scan structure, wherein each of the tasks selects an unprocessed chunk of the cache directory for processing until the chunks of the cache directory have been processed.

摘要: A computing device includes an interface configured to interface and communicate with a dispersed storage network (DSN), a memory that stores operational instructions, and a processing module operably coupled to the interface and memory such that the processing module, when operable within the computing device based on the operational instructions, is configured to perform various operations. The computing device receives a data access request for a data object and determines a first revision number of a corresponding set of EDSs stored among first SU(s) and a second revision number of a corresponding trimmed copy of the set of EDSs stored among second SU(s). When the second revision number compares favorably to the first revision number, the computing device issues the data access request to the first SU(s) and/or the second SU(s) and issues the data access request for the data object to only the first SU(s) when it doesn't.

摘要: Cache prefetching in offloaded data transfer (ODX) processes. A populate token command is received to initiate a copy offload operation. Responsive to receiving the populate token command, a cache of a data storage system in a storage area network environment is instructed to prefetch data in accordance with the populate token command and complete an offloaded read request. Responsive to determining that a write using token command is not received within a specified time duration, the prefetched data stored in the cache is evicted.

摘要: A disk control device includes a hypervisor, a cache access measurement unit, and a distribution determination unit. The cache access measurement unit measures a characteristic value of a logical disk by analyzing an access pattern to the logical disk by a cache memory. The distribution determination unit selects one of a plurality of virtual computers including the cache memory associated with the measured characteristic value. The hypervisor activates the virtual computer selected by the distribution determination unit and switches a forwarding destination of an input-output request to the logical disk to the virtual computer selected by the distribution determination unit.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for use in a dispersed storage network (DSN) to enable non-interactive information dispersal. In various examples, a computing device dispersed storage error encodes a data segment of a data object to produce a set of encoded data slices. Utilizing a secret key, the computing device encrypts an encoded data slice of the set of encoded data slices to produce an encrypted data slice. The computing device also encrypts the secret key, utilizing a public key of a storage unit of the DSN. The encrypted data slice and the encrypted secret key are combined by the computing device to create a package. A signature operation is performed on the package to generate a signed package, which is sent to the DSN storage unit. The signature operation can include generating a hash digest of the package and encrypting the hash digest utilizing a private key of the computing device.

摘要: A system and method for performing copy offload operations. When a copy offload operation from a first volume (pointing to a first medium) to a second volume (pointing to a second medium) is requested, the copy offload operation is performed without accessing the data being copied. A third medium is created, and the first medium is recorded as the underlying medium of the third medium. The first volume is re-pointed to the third medium. Also, a fourth medium is created, the second volume is re-pointed to the fourth medium, and the second medium is recorded as the underlying medium of the targeted range of the fourth medium. All other ranges of the fourth medium have the second medium as their underlying medium.

摘要: A system according to one embodiment includes a processor and logic integrated with and/or executable by the processor. The logic is configured to cause the processor to store hierarchically-organized global configuration information for each node and each tape library resource in a storage cluster to at least one memory accessible by each node of the storage cluster. The storage cluster includes at least one tape library. Also, the logic is configured to cause the processor to migrate data to and/or recall data from a tape cartridge pool within a tape library, using the hierarchically-organized global configuration information and via a node which has access to the tape cartridge pool, in response to receiving a migration and/or recall request at any node of the storage cluster. Other systems, methods, and computer program products for management of data and resources in a tiered data storage system are described in more embodiments.
