摘要： A security device (10) to releasably secure articles in a queue, row or stack has a body (11, 12) to be clamped on one of the articles by a loop section (14) and lugs (17). A key (26) attached by a chain or cable to a second device (10) is received in a slot (30, 31) in the body and is releasably engaged by a peg (39) on a pivotally mounted operating arm (34), in a cavity (29) of the body entering a slot (27) in the key (26). The key (26) can only be released when a coin or token is received in a coin holder (47) in a pusher unit (48) which advances a tongue (40), the nose (41) of which engages a cam face (42) on the operating arm (34) to move the latter to release the key (26). The pusher unit (48) can only be moved to recover the coin or token from the coin holder (47) when the key (26) has been reinserted in the body and engaged by the operating arm (34).

摘要： A safety device for connecting orderly positioned shopping carts to each other includes a token extractor comprising a control key device which is insertably-releasable from the shopping cart and carries an insert having a token-receiving slot. An encoding ring is positioned on the upper surface of the grip of the cart. A releasing member is resiliently suspended on the cart and serves for connecting one cart to a neighboring cart when the releasing member of one cart is inserted into the encoding ring of the neighboring shopping cart. The releasing element is provided with coding markings and can be inserted into the encoding ring of the neighboring shopping cart in a plurality of various positions corresponding to the markings on the releasing element whereby the shopping carts of one supermarket can be distinguished from the shopping carts of another supermarket located at the same shopping plaza.

摘要： An incentive-based grocery cart washing and disinfecting system including a consumer special-offer coupon applying apparatus, for use in a batch or continuous process comprising a housing having at least one pipe manifold with nozzles positioned therein to provide at least one treatment zone selected from pre-wash, wash, disinfecting, and rinse zones. In addition, blown air water-stripping/drying zones may be provided, with a heating source to assist drying. Following drying, a strip of specially adapted grocery coupons is optionally applied to the grocery cart handle, so that the coupons can be redeemed by customers during their subsequent shopping. The housing is generally a linear tunnel permitting access of soiled carts at one end and removal of the clean, disinfected carts at the other end. A cart pusher system may be employed to transport the carts through the tunnel either singly or in nested groups. A convenient antimicrobial disinfecting solution is a water solution of hypochlorite. A single zone system is disclosed in which in a selected, optionally preprogrammed, sequence of application of pre-wash, wash, rinse, and disinfecting fluids are delivered to selected surfaces of the cart, followed by blown air, preferably heated, for stripping/drying,. The coupon strip comprises a leader portion and a coupon portion, and the leader can be wrapped and fixed around the grocery cart handle manually or by means of the automated machinery described. The system of the invention may be a fixed or mobile system, with the use preferably being on site at stores.

摘要： A device for coupling carriers comprises a housing adapted to be mounted on the carrier and having a face with an opening forming a coupling trap. A flexible cable has one end secured to the housing and an opposite end extending out of the housing which has a plug thereon which is engageable in the coupling trap of an adjacent carrier. The housing also carries a releasable lock which is engageable with the plug to hold it in the trap when it is inserted therein. The device operates electrically under the control of a coin which passes through a coin chute in the housing and actuates an electrical switch which has an actuator portion in the chute. The switch is connected to the lock and it releases the lock and traps the coin in the chute so as to permit release of the plug from the trap and use of the carrier. When the carrier is returned and the plug is again inserted into the trap, the coin is released.

Mechanism is provided whereby the wheels are locked when the cover is open and unlocked when the cover is closed, although the wheel lock may be operated manually if the cover is held open by overloading of the basket. Mechanism is also provided for locking the rear basket wall whenever the wheels are locked. A key lock mechanism is provided for locking the cover, wheels and rear basket wall in the event the user desires to leave the cart unattended.

The sanitary handle cover dispenser comprises a housing containing a roll of sanitized paper of plastic sheet material wound about a rotatable reel mechanism and adapted to deploy a fresh portion of sanitized sheet material in covering relation with the shopping cart handle between uses. A reel mechanism is electrically driven and actuated by a touch-free sensor upon sensing the presence of a user's hand in proximity to the sensor. The sanitary sheet material is preferably adapted with advertising content. The dispenser is further adapted with an electronic display and wireless communication functions that enable the device to receive and display information directly to the user. Such features allow the user to send an e-mail message, such as shopping list, to the store such that the message may be relayed to the device upon the user's arrival and log in.

摘要： A handle for a shopping cart comprised of elongated tubular member having opposed securable ends. At each end of the tubular member there is provided a lock pin formation which extends outwardly thereof to be received in an arresting passageway of an attachment portion of a respective handle support arm secured to a shopping cart. A fastener element secures the ends of the tubular member to a respective one of the support arms and extends axially into the tubular member for retention of the lock pin formation in the passageway thereby preventing axial rotation of the tubular member. The end cross sections of each tubular member also constitutes an arresting formation which is nested in a retention cavity formed in the handle attachment portion of each of the handle support arms. This formation is received in close fit in the retention cavity to further prevent axial rotation of the handle.
