    摘要: The present invention provides a disc drive apparatus capable of identifying a disc (12 cm) having a small data area (8 cm) in central as same as an ordinary 12 cm disc. The apparatus having a light receiving unit 105b and a push switch 106b. The unit 105b is arranged in a position where the unit 105b detects the disc having the small data area in central when the switch 106b detects the same, and where the unit 105b does not detect a disc (12 cm) having a hole (8 cm) in central when the 106b detects the same. The apparatus also has an disc identifier for identifying type of the disc based on the detected results of the light receiving units and/or the push switches.

    摘要: An optical disc player includes a disc determining device for determined the size of an optical disc loaded into the optical disc player, a disc chucking device for the optical disc loaded into the optical disc player, and a disc chucking lever device for associating the disc determining device with the disc chucking device. The disc determining device is guided to the chucking position by the pins and members for locking the pins and positions of the pins for driving the chucking device are changed according to the size of the optical disc so that the optical disc player can be slim. Since the chucking plate, the chucking plate holder, and the plate springs of the disc chucking device for horizontally chucking the optical disc inserted into the optical disc player are thin, the optical disc player can be slim.

    摘要: In an optical disc apparatus reading and writing data with respect to an optical disc, a motor controller uses widest pattern signals outputted from an optical pickup for judging size of an optical disc mounted on a turn table and stop of rotation of the optical disc. Since an inverse number of the widest pattern signal has correlation with a frequency sensed by a conventional frequency generator, the motor controller calculates a difference between inverse numbers of the widest pattern signals before and after putting braking force to the turn table, and judges the size of the optical disc with reference to variation of rotation speed before and after the braking. The motor controller further calculates a prediction time when the rotation of the optical disc will be stopped with using the variation of the inverse number of the widest pattern signal, stops to put the braking force to the turn table at the prediction time, and judges the rotation of the optical disc has been stopped.

    摘要: A method and device are provided for controlling a beginning point of an optical pick-up unit. The optical pick-up unit moves to a beginning point of an optical disc such as a DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) to execute a servo-tuning function at the beginning point. The method includes a) performing a focus search operation on an optical disc and at the same time determining whether there is a reflection signal from the optical disc; b) after performing the focus search operation, moving the optical pick-up unit toward a predetermined beginning point of the optical disc based on the result of the determining step; and c) based on the reflection signal from the optical disc, determining whether or not the optical pick-up unit has moved to the beginning point of the optical disc while the optical pick-up unit is in motion.

    摘要: A disk apparatus includes a disk driving section having a turntable, a transport mechanism for transporting a disk toward the disk driving section, detection members which abut against the edge of the disk to be transported and move in a direction crossing the disk transport direction in accordance with the peripheral shape of the disk, and a biasing member for biasing the detection members in a direction to be pressed into contact with the edge of the disk and urging the center of the transported disk to coincide with a transport center line passing through the center of the turntable. The disk apparatus also includes a position sensor for detecting the positions of the detection members, and a control section for stopping the disk transported by the transport mechanism when the movement of the disk to a predetermined position over the turntable is detected from an output of the position sensor corresponding to the positions of the detection members. Thus, the detection members move with the movement of the disk and the detection output from the position sensor continuously changes following the movement of the detection members, so that the control section stops the disk transported by the transport mechanism when the output from the position sensor reaches a peak value, whereby the disk is located at a predetermined position over the turntable. In addition, the control section discriminates the diameters of inserted disks on the basis of the amount of movement detected from the output of the position sensor. Therefore, the disk apparatus can certainly locate the disks with a small number of components, and discriminate the diameters of the disks.

    摘要: An automatic disc loading apparatus for an information reproducing or recording/reproducing system in which pieces of information recorded on a record disc are to be reproduced or pieces of information are recorded on a record disc and thereafter reproduced. The apparatus comprises a casing structure into which the record disc is to be inserted in a predetermined direction along a predetermined plane substantially parallel with the predetermined direction toward a predetermined position within the casing structure. The casing structure is formed with a slot elongated in a direction substantially perpendicular to the aforesaid predetermined direction. A disc guide is provided comprising a pair of disc guide members movable toward and away from each other within the casing structure and in the neighborhood of the above mentioned slot substantially symmetrically with respect to the above mentioned predetermined direction. The record disc is passed between the disc guide members when being inserted in the predetermined direction into the casing structure through the slot. A drive is operative to drive the disc guide members for movement toward or away from each other.
