摘要: Molten salt nuclear fission reactor including a core through which a fuel salt flows, a unit for circulating the fuel salt, a primary heat exchanger through which a heat-transfer salt flows, a primary enclosure which is impermeable to liquid salts and contains the reactor core, and a shelter. The reactor includes a parallelepiped matrix including alternating layers of fuel salt channels, and layers of heat-transfer salt channels. The matrix forms both the reactor core, in which the fission occurs, and the primary heat exchanger of the reactor. The circulating unit is entirely located within the primary enclosure and are configured to extract the fuel salt from one portion of the fuel salt channels on one side of the matrix and to propel the fuel salt into the other portion of the channels on the same side of the matrix.

摘要: A nuclear reactor structure configuring a pebble accommodating space of a pebble bed type nuclear reactor includes a core material including graphite and a ceramic/ceramic composition material covering a surface of the core material. According to a core material processing step (A) of processing the core material including graphite into a quadrangular prism, a bottom surface of which is an approximately isosceles trapezoid, a step (B) of obtaining a base material by covering the core material with an aggregate including a ceramic fiber, and a CVD step (C) of putting the base material into a CVD reactor and forming a SiC matrix in gaps of the aggregate, thereby forming a ceramic/ceramic composite material on a surface of the core material, the nuclear reactor structure capable of enhancing durability, preventing cracking, etc. from occurring, and preventing exposure of graphite as the core material from occurring, can be provided.

摘要: A nuclear fuel element for a gas-cooled nuclear reactor of the thermal type comprises an outer region containing fertile material enclosing an inner region containing fissile plutonium. The inner region is disposed so as to be cooled by the reactor coolant. A plurality of fuel elements may be distributed in an interchangeable block which forms a reasonable part of a reactor core. The block defines channels through which reactor coolant is caused to flow so as to remove heat from the fissile plutonium.

摘要: A nuclear reactor core includes a plurality of core assemblies. The core assemblies have a cooperating structure formed at one or more load pads that mechanically couple the plurality of core assemblies together to limit relative motion between core assemblies in a kinematically determinate way. A shear key on one core assembly is configured to fit in a tab slot on an adjacent core assembly. Motion of one core assembly is transferred to a second core assembly and the core assemblies move together.
