摘要:
There are provided a contact construction for DC loads which, even in the case of a high-capacitance load, can be repeatedly cut off for a long term without causing any problems such as cut-off failure, locking and deposition due to an abnormal continuation of an arc between the contacts, burning and destruction of the contacts, and an increase in contact resistance, and whose reductions in size and cost can be achieved, as well as a switching device having the contact construction. The contact construction includes a stationary contact and a movable contact that are opposite to each other, and a magnetic unit which applies a magnetic field acting in a direction orthogonal to a moving direction of the movable contact, to a space in which both contacts exist, and one of the stationary contact and the movable contact is used as an anode-side contact, and the other is used as a cathode-side contact. In the contact construction, the anode-side contact is made of an AgSnO2-based alloy which contains at least Ag and SnO2, and the cathode-side contact is made of one of an AgNi-based alloy which contains at least Ag and Ni and an AgCuO-based alloy which contains Ag and CuO. The switching device has the above-mentioned contact construction.

An elongated electrical lead has a first part of a hard and brittle arc quenching metal integrally joined to an easily bendable second part of a ductile metal. The lead is used in a thermal cutoff with the first part being inside of the thermal cutoff housing and having an end portion defining an electrical contact. The second part of the lead extends outwardly from the thermal cutoff for connecting same in an electrical circuit.

A powder metallurgy material for use in the manufacture of electrical contacts and having enhanced cold workability consists essentially, by weight percent, of 5 to 20% tin oxide, 2000 to 5000 ppm, preferably 2000 to less than 4000 ppm copper, 20 to 200 ppm, preferably 20 to 100 ppm, lithium, balance silver. Such materials are produced by compacting the powdered components and heating to sinter the material to at least 93% of theoretical density. Such materials subsequently can be hot or cold worked to a form useful for the manufacture of electrical contacts.

Electrical contact materials made from an internally oxidized Ag alloy containing 0.5 to 12 weight % of Sn. Internal oxidized structures which have been produced in the alloy at the forwardmost area along a progressive direction of internal oxidation and which are fine and free from the segregation of tin oxides, are employed as contact surfaces. Another surface opposite to said contact surfaces may be brazeable by having it subjected to a reduction or decomposition treatment of metal oxides about said another surface.
摘要:
Rather high temperature raise of internally oxidized Ag-Sn alloy contact materials due to a high contact resistance inherent to such materials, is eliminated. The high contact resistance which is caused by high concentration or supersaturation of metal oxides including tin oxides about contact surfaces, is avoided by having solute metals sublimated, reduced or extracted about the contact surface before the internal oxidation thereof. Sublimation and other treatments may be made after having the materials subjected to internal oxidation.

There is described a material for electrical contacts based on silver having 5 to 20 weight % tin oxide and 0.5 to 5 weight % tungsten oxide which has the welding strength reduced further without producing an increased switching temperature. The material contains additionally 0.1 to 5 weight % of bismuth oxide.

Ag-SnO alloy contact materials of such dimensions which are hard to achieve internal oxidation without producing depleted cores due to lack of tin oxides, are produced by metallurgically integrating pieces of said alloy material, said pieces being of such dimensions that they are easily internally oxidized without any depleted cores. Integration consists of congregating or assemblying said pieces by kneading under pressure and at a temperature higher than 700.degree. C. into a mass in which said pieces coalesce to each other without any distinctive silver interface thereamong, and through which tin oxides are uniformly dispersed substantially without any grain boundaries.

A thermally responsive switch includes an airtight container including a metal housing and a header plate, conductive terminal pins airtightly fixed to the header plate, a fixed contact fixed to the conductive terminal pin, a thermally responsive plate one end of which is conductively connected to and fixed to the inner surface of the airtight container and the bending direction of which is reversed at a predetermined temperature, and a movable contact fixed to the other end of the thermally responsive plate. In the thermally responsive switch, the movable contact and the fixed contact are composed of a silver tin oxide based contact and gas containing 50% or more and 95% or less of helium is encapsulated in the airtight container in such a manner that gas pressure is equal to or more than 0.35 and equal to or less than 0.7 at ordinary temperature.

An electric contact of high performance that is constituted of a Cd-free Ag alloy posing no toxic problem, excels in insulating capability and can ensure stability of brazing and consumption characteristics and that can be used in a breaker or high-load electromagnetic switch; and electrical equipment including the electric contact. In particular, an electric contact comprised of an Ag alloy containing 1 to 9 mass % of Sn in which the amount of Cd as impurity is 0 or less than 0.01 mass %, the electric contact having a double layer structure composed of a surface-side first layer and an interior second layer wherein the first layer has a thickness of 10 μm or greater and has an average hardness of 150 or higher on the microvickers scale stipulated in JIS while the second layer has an average hardness of higher than 130 on the same scale.

A material for electric contacts based on silver-tin oxide is obtained by mixing a powder of silver or an alloy mainly containing silver with a powder consisting mainly of tin oxide and 0.01 to 10 wt. % (in relation to the quantity of tin oxide) of an additive consisting of one or more compounds containing silver, oxygen and a metal from sub-groups II to VI of the periodic system and/or antimony, bismuth, germanium, indium and gallium, compacting the mixture and sintering it. The tin oxide may be replaced by zinc oxide.
