    摘要: A panel mount system includes a pair of hermaphroditic electrical connectors mounted in apertures in a respective pair of panels. Each connector includes a mounting flange for interfacing with the panel and a pair of cantilevered latch structures. Each latch structure includes a base arm projecting from the mounting flange and a pair of locking arms deflectably cantilevered from an end of the base arm. The maximum cross-sectional dimension defined by each pair of locking arms is greater than respective adjacent portions of the respective mounting aperture whereby the locking arms of each latch structure are deflectable to pass through the respective mounting aperture and then to an undeflected condition to mount the connector to the panel. The maximum cross-sectional dimension defined by the base arm is less than the respective adjacent portion of the mounting aperture to permit floating of the connector relative to the panel. The dimension of one of the latch structures and its adjacent portion of the mounting aperture is different from the dimension of the other latch structure and its adjacent portion of the mounting aperture to provide polarization for the connector relative to the panel. The locking arms are provided with beam-like bosses on the insides thereof to perform the dual function of providing stability for the locking arms as well as anti-overstress portions for the locking arms.

    摘要: An hermaphroditic IBM data connector/modular communication jack adapter made by encapsulating a modified standard modular telecommunication jack receptacle within a modified IBM data connector of attached cable type. Resilient solid wire contacts associated with the jack receptacle are terminated by insulation displacing contacts on and within the data connector. Terminal portions of at least two of the solid wire contacts are bent to positions overlying the jack receptacle casing. Plates cut from a shield enclosure which forms a part of the data connector are positioned in overlying relation to the terminal portions of the two solid wire contacts and establish ground drain continuity between the jack receptacle and the data connector.

    摘要: A hermaphroditic coupling mechanism includes two identical coupling members, each including two latch arms and two detented locking ramp surfaces. The latch arms include surfaces which face a coupler interface, while the locking ramp surfaces face away from the interface. The latch arms are inserted through grooves in a collar on which the locking ramp surfaces are provided, and the members are then rotated relative to each other causing the surfaces on the latch arms to pass over detents on the locking surfaces, thereby locking the coupling members together against relative axial movement. The coupling members may be secured to respective contacts by a snap-fit arrangement.
