摘要: A power beaming system includes a power beam transmitter arranged to transmit the power beam, and a power beam receiver arranged to receive the power beam from the power beam transmitter. A power beam transmission source is arranged to generate a laser light beam for transmission by the power beam transmitter from a first location toward a remote second location. A beam-shaping element shapes the laser light beam, at least one diffusion element uniformly distributes light of the shaped laser light beam, and a projection element illuminates a power beam receiving element of predetermined shape with the shaped laser light beam. At the power beam receiver, a diffusion surface diffuses a portion the power beam specularly reflected from the power beam receiver.

摘要: A pulsed laser diode driver includes a source capacitor that receives a refresh current at a first terminal and develops a source voltage therefrom. A first terminal of an inductor is connected to the first terminal of the source capacitor. A second terminal of the inductor is connected to an anode of a laser diode and a bypass capacitor. One or more switches are configured to control a current flow through the inductor. A timing and control circuit is configured to receive the source voltage and to generate one or more gate driver signals to control the switches to produce a high-current pulse through the laser diode. The high-current pulse corresponds to a peak current of a resonant waveform developed at the anode of the laser diode. A timing of the one or more gate driver signals is based on a voltage level of the source voltage.

摘要: A system to detect obstacles includes a power beam transmission circuit, a power beam reception circuit arranged to receive a power beam from the power beam transmission circuit, an emitter module, and a detector module arranged to distinguish between a first characteristic and a second characteristic. The emitter module includes a first emitter arranged to emit a first signal having the first characteristic, the first signal emitted in proximity to the power beam, and a second emitter arranged to emit a second signal having the second characteristic, the second characteristic different from the first characteristic, the second signal emitted in proximity to the first signal. The detector module includes a first detector arranged to respond to the first signal emitted by the first emitter, wherein the detector module is arranged to determine when an obstacle is in or near a line-of-sight transmission path between the first emitter and the first detector.

摘要: A laser device suppresses the variation of each time-lag so that a distortion of a combined laser output is suppressed. The laser device includes electric current control elements Q1, Q2 connected in series to a laser diode unit corresponding to respective laser diode units LD1, LD2, an electric current control circuit 11 that controls an electric current flow in the laser diode unit by adding a voltage to a control terminal of the electric current control element to turn on the electric current control element, and voltage adjustment circuits 12a, 12b corresponding to the laser diode unit adjusts, individually, every laser diode unit and the voltage that is added to the control terminal of the electric current control element when the laser diode is off.

摘要: Fiber lighting systems and methods of switching light are disclosed. A system includes a light source and a switching device having an input that receives light from the light source, at least one output, and a microelectromechanical mirror disposed in an optical pathway between the input and the output. The mirror is repositionable to direct light from the input into the output. The system also includes a light diffusing fiber coupled to the output that emits light along its length and an electronic control unit that directs the light source to pulse the light at a frequency of 10 Hz-500 kHz and orient the mirror for directing the light to an output. The repositioning is synchronized with the pulsing such that the mirror is at a coupled orientation during a pulse and is repositioned between pulses.
