    摘要: A spark plug for an internal combustion engine is provided which includes a hollow cylindrical metal shell with an open end portion to be exposed to a combustion chamber of the engine, a ground electrode joined to the metal shell, a center electrode disposed in the metal housing to define a spark gap between itself and the ground electrode. The spark plug also includes a stream shaper or a stream reflector geometrically formed on the metal shell and/or the porcelain insulator to shape a vortex steam of air-fuel mixture into a stream thereof which is oriented outside the spark plug or serves to decrease the amount of the air-fuel mixture into a pocket between the metal shell and the porcelain insulator. This ensures the stability of ignition of the air-fuel mixture.

    摘要: An elongated plate element, for example of aluminum oxide, or a metal plate which is coated with an insulator such as aluminum oxide, is retained within a hollow spark plug insulator (15) by a sealing mass (38), for example a sinter compound, sintering together the plate element (37) and the insulator body (35). The plate element carries a strip or conductive track layer electrode (25) thereon, located, for example, on one major surface of the plate; at the ignition end, the plate may have a through-hole (52), plated through, so that the ignition electrode will have conductive portions at both sides of the plate, faced by ground electrode portions which likewise can be retained on plate-like carrier elements, and connected to the metal housing (11) of the spark plug via conductive tracks (60, 61) and a conductive sealing ring (17"). The plates can carry heaters (32) and operation sensors, such as gas composition sensor, temperature sensor, pressure sensor or the like, which may, for example, have one electrode connected to ground or chassis, and hence to the metal housing, and the other electrode carried along in strip form to the connecting end portion of the spark plug. The plate and layer-like construction of the insulating elements permits modular combination of required components having the desired operating and/or sensing characteristics, and are suitable for mass production assembly.

    摘要: An ignition plug for an internal combustion engine is disclosed which comprises an elongate electrode means inserted at the center of a plug body, another cylindrical electrode means encircling the electrode means and an insulator means provided between the elongate and cylindrical electrode means and forming a small cavity which is in communication with a combustion chamber. A plasma gas is created in the cavity due to the generation of a spark between the elongate and cylindrical electrode means and is jetted into the combustion chamber to ignite the air-fuel mixture therein. A gap into which the burnt gas is introduced is formed between the insulator means and the cylindrical electrode means so as to warm the wall of the cavity and thereby avoid ignition misfiring.

    摘要: An ignition device for an internal combustion engine which serves as both a spark plug during normal running of the engine and a heater for warm-up of the combustion chamber prior to starting the engine. An electric heater is located within a chamber in the tip portion of the center electrode of a spark plug. Prior to starting the engine, a solenoid switch may be actuated to ground the center electrode tip and, simultaneously, to apply power to the heater for engine warm-up. When the solenoid switch is released, the ignition device functions as a conventional spark plug for igniting fuel in a combustion chamber.

    摘要: A spark ignition device includes a ceramic insulator with a metal shell surrounding at least a portion of the ceramic insulator. A ground electrode is attached to the shell. The ground electrode has a ground electrode sparking tip spaced from a central sparking tip by a spark gap. A first terminal is arranged in electrical communication with the central sparking tip and is configured for electrical connection with a power source. The device further includes a second terminal configured for electrical connection with the power source. The second terminal is spaced from the first terminal, with the second terminal being arranged in electrical communication with the first terminal. A heater element brings the first terminal in electrical communication with the second terminal and completes an electrical circuit. The heater element has a resistance greater than the first and second terminals thereby producing a significant source of heat.
