    摘要: A wire stripper detects contact between a core wire of an electric wire and stripping blades and detects if the electric wire is cut short. The wire stripper includes a signal analyzer circuit that measures an impedance through the stripping blades for a change in the impedance caused by contact with the wire core and a buffer circuit, that when a contact of the stripping blades with the wire core is detected, applies a signal having the same level as that of an electric signal applied to the stripping blades to a side of a shielding material of a shielded cable for transmitting the electric signal to and from the stripping blades so as to reduce or prevent current leakage between a signal line of the shielded cable and the shielding material.

    摘要: Stripping of the outer jacket of miniaturized coaxial cable is achieved through the use of stripping blades which have surfaces dulled to preclude cutting the cable core or ground conductor and yet sever the cable and metalized film from the cable core. The stripping blades have an offset to eliminate the need to orient the cable relative to the ground wire with the dull surfaces having a radius to substantially deform the cable with the cable then being pulled to effect removal of the outer jacket and metallized film. The length of stripping accommodates axial elongation of the core with excess core subsequently being trimmed, thereby resulting in a desired stripped length.

    摘要: A recoverable arrangement for stripping insulation from an elongate conductor comprises two stripping members each of which has a cut out portion. The cut out portions are arranged to overlap so as to form an aperture to receive the insulated conductor. The arrangement is recoverable such that the stripping members move both laterally of the conductor, to pierce the insulation, and longitudinally of the conductor, to strip the insulation. Preferably the stripping members of a further member in association with the stripping members comprise a heat-recoverable metal which recovers to move the stripping members relative to the conductor.

    摘要: A tool for cutting the outer jacket of a cable, especially coaxial cable, is disclosed herein. This tool utilizes a main body which supports a downwardly extending knife edge from its underside. A gripping tray which is at least as long as the normal width of four adult fingers and which is adapted to receive a longitudinal section of the cable to be cut is supported by the main body under its depending knife edge for movement between a first lowermost position sufficiently far from the knife edge to place the cable section out of engagement with the latter and a second raised position sufficiently close to the cutting edge for placing the outer jacket of the cable section in cutting engagement with the knife edge. In this way, an individual user can place the tray in its raised position using all four fingers of one hand while pulling the cable longitudinally through the tray with his other hand in order to cause the knife edge to cut its outer jacket in the longitudinal direction.

    摘要: A wire stripping and cutting tool comprises two pivotally joined elongated members. First, second, and third pairs of cutting members are mounted on the elongated members. The cutting surfaces of the first pair of cutting members are shaped and dimensioned to cut through the outer sheath of sheathed electrical cable without cutting an electrical conductor within the sheath or the individual conductor insulation covering the conductor. The cutting surfaces of the second pair of cutting members are shaped and dimensioned to cut through the sheath and individual conductor insulation without cutting the conductor. The cutting surfaces of the third pair of cutting members are shaped and dimensioned to cut through the sheath, the individual conductor insulation, and the conductor. If no outer sheath is present, a modified first pair of cutting members may function as guide members to align separate conductors for the second pair of cutting members.

    摘要: To prepare a multi-conductor jacketed cable for splicing it is necessary to remove the jacket for some distance from the end of the cable and to cut the conductors so that they extend for different distances from the end of the jacket. This is done by first gripping the cable by a clamp some distance from its end. Longitudinally spaced pairs of cutters are then brought together to cut through the conductors and through the jacket to the conductors with the cut through the conductors being spaced toward the clamp from the end of the cable a greater distance than the cut through the conductors. The clamp is then moved away from the cutters so as to pull the main portion of the cable with it while leaving the portions of the jacket and conductors between the cutters and the end of the cable behind.
