    Abstract: A user equipment (UE) device may communicate with an access point (AP) at greater than 100 GHz via a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS). The AP may perform a control RAT discovery with the RIS and then a data transfer RAT discovery, during which the AP uses the control RAT to control the RIS to sweep over different RIS beams. The AP may transmit radar waveforms while concurrently sweeping over different AP beams. The AP may gather performance metric values from the radar waveforms after reflection off the RIS during the sweep. The AP may identify an optimal RIS beam that produced the best performance metric values. The AP may use the optimal RIS beam to identify the orientation of the RIS, which the AP may use to select AP and/or RIS beams for conveying wireless data between the AP and the UE via the RIS.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described to support concurrent beam pair link (BPL) measurement and reporting on a subband basis. A base station may configure a user equipment (UE) to measure one or more wideband reference signals transmitted by the base station for each of a set of BPLs, for joint BPL selection, and the UE may receive the wideband reference signals. The UE may perform measurements for each of the set BPLs at a subband level and may report signal qualities for the different BPL combinations at a subband level. For example, the UE may measure different combinations of transmit beams and receive beams (e.g., may measure different BPLs) over multiple antenna panels, on a per-subband basis. The UE may report information based on the measurements that may support selection of BPLs for multi-panel and multi-beam operation for one or more subbands.

    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods, systems, and devices for performing a regularly coded beam sweep for spatial channel sounding. In one form, a method for wireless communication includes: accessing, at a transmitter, a regular codebook configured to utilize multiple beams on a resource unit as part of a coded beam sweep for spatial channel sounding; transmitting, from the transmitter to a receiver, a steering sound signal utilizing a beam codeword of the regular codebook that identifies multiple beams for transmission on the resource unit; and receiving, at the transmitter, channel state information from the receiver, the channel state information determined at the receiver based on a strength of the steering sound signal when received at the receiver over the multiple beams identified in the beam codeword.
