A method may comprise receiving, via at least one of a client electronic device and a server computer, an instant message request associated with an instant message request target. The method may also comprise in response to the determination, providing, via at least one of the client electronic device and the server computer, an indication of the instant message status.

摘要： One embodiment of the present invention provides a system for detecting in-person meetings between users of mobile devices. During operation, the system collects information regarding characteristics of features of the users' surrounding environment as detected by the mobile devices. The characteristics of the detected features are compared with each other to produce observations and the observations are applied to a hidden Markov model to detect meetings between the users. Features detected from the surroundings may include Wi-Fi signals, discoverable Bluetooth signals, and ambient sounds.

摘要： A system and method provides each networked computer user with a user interface displaying visual representations of selected other computer users, generally of those workers in the user's workgroup, and further provides communication mechanisms for efficiently and easily contacting any of the displayed workers. The visual representations of the other users are frequently updated to indicate the activity level of these users. These activity level cues help users predict if the other users are likely to be available for an interaction. The user interface also includes a display portion and mechanism for storing data files and the like so that all workgroup members may accumulate a set data files commonly used by the workgroup, and may transfer files in this manner to other workgroup members. The data files may be stored in association with specific interactive discussion windows, known as chat rooms, or directly in the user interface.
