Abstract: A flat plate is used to cover a mounting hole in a masonry wall face and is held in place by a set of wire hooks. The hooks are able to slide into holes in the plate and catch onto the interior surface of the wall in order to hold a clearance hole in the plate concentrically with respect to the mounting hole. An anchor bolt is supported at the center of the mounting hole by the clearance hole in the plate while grout is poured into the masonry blocks thereby assuring that the bolt is positioned properly in accordance with building code.

Abstract: An apparatus for joining flanged, abutting duct ends or for reinforcing ducts comprises an elongated coupling member including a V-shaped portion made up of two slanting walls approaching an apex and having lower portions spaced apart a given distance. Abstract: A screw mounting clip member is provided with a spring detent member cooperating with a stop member to slidably fixedly engage the clip in a slotted aperture adjacent an unthreaded screw-receiving borehole. Another spring detent member provided on the clip extends into the borehole when the clip is fixedly mounted in place. A threaded screw is fastened in the borehole by initially being manually thrust endwise into the borehole without turning, thereby deflecting and forcefully engaging the spring detent with the screw threads. The screw may thereafter be tightened by turning the screw against the spring detent and may be unfastened only by reverse turning of the screw, in the conventional manner.

Abstract: The invention is concerned with a retainer for holding a sheet of insulation against a metal plate and with the method of seating a sheet of insulation against a metallic plate. The retainer comprises a linearly extending member made of a hard but deformable material and having a flange extending outwardly adjacent a first end thereof to sit against a first side of a metal plate with the remainder of the member extending through a hole in the plate and a bore extending longitudinally in the member from the first end thereof towards a second end thereof, the bore terminating at a chamber of larger orthogonal dimension than the bore itself, the chamber terminating short of the second end of the member. Also part of the retainer is a rod fitting within and extending outwardly from the bore and having at a first end thereof a head of larger orthogonal dimension than the bore, the head fitting within the chamber. Generally the rod includes a weak portion which is easily breakable. Also a part of the retainer is a stud projecting longitudinally from the member. A cap also generally forms a part of the retainer, the cap binding to the stud after the insulation is pushed over the stud to hold the insulation in place.

Abstract: A method and fastener assembly for preloading a joint wherein a pin having a shank and a head at one end is disposed with the shank portion passing through aligned apertures of a plurality of workpieces to be joined. The shank portion of the pin extends beyond the surface of the workpiece and is provided with an irregular surface configuration. A deformable collar having an initially smooth surfaced internal bore is disposed about the pin and snugged against the adjacent workpiece by a removably positioned means placed in abutting relationship against the free surface of the collar to lightly clamp the joint assembly together to remove free play in the joint. The collar is radially inwardly deformed by a crimping tool so that the initially smooth surfaced internal bore of the collar is deformed to assume a configuration complimentary to the irregular surface configuration of the pin shank and upon continual application of the crimping force an axial elongation of the collar and the shank of the pin is effected to provide a predetermined tension or preload on the joint assembly. After the collar has been deformed, the means to snug the joint together initially is removed.

Abstract: A molded plastic electrical junction box is disclosed. The box is generally rectangular with an open front face for mounting a receptacle or switch. Molded recesses at various locations in the box walls define knockout panels which may be folded or broken away for running electrical conductors to the box interior. The exterior of the opposite end walls carry integrally molded lugs which define an angular passageway for receiving a fastener for securing the box to a stud or joist. Bosses on the end walls are adapted for quick fastening of a switch or receptacle bracket to the box with threaded fastener. In one embodiment, the bosses define self-tapping holes for receiving a screw. Alternate embodiments disclose fastening devices including a plastic or metal insert speed-type nut for securing the switch or receptacle bracket. Another embodiment of the fastener includes a deflectable thread-carrying arcuate member.

Abstract: A one-piece, sheet metal quick-acting clamp is formed for attachment to a supporting structure and carries an apertured plate element through which a vertical rod may pass. The edge of the aperture on one side and a tooth and resilient lever element on the opposite side engage the rod to prevent downward movement of the rod.
