摘要: A clamping assembly is disclosed that includes a tapered collar extending radially inward towards an axis. A clamping sleeve is movable along the axis relative to the tapered collar. The clamping sleeve includes flexible arms. An actuator is coupled to the clamping sleeve and is configured to move the clamping sleeve along the axis between extended and retracted positions. A collet is supported relative to the sleeve. The collet includes a body having an axially extending opening configured to receive the material and circumferential fingers arranged about the opening. The clamping sleeve forces the fingers radially inward with the clamping sleeve in the extended position to clamp and hold the material. The biasing member urges the fingers radially outward with the clamping sleeve in the retracted position. Replaceable inserts can also be secured to each finger facing the opening.

摘要: A rotary tool includes a housing defining at least one slot and a motor including an output shaft supported within the housing. A collet chuck is coupled to the output shaft that is configured to slidably receive a collet. The collet chuck includes at least one lever arm configured to apply a clamping force to the collet. A wedge is configured to move into and out of engagement with the at least one lever arm to generate the clamping force. A bearing is attached to the wedge, and a yoke member is attached to the bearing. The yoke member includes at least one lever structure that projects outwardly from the yoke member through the slot in the housing.

摘要: An apparatus for aligning a machine tool with a target location on a structure. A machine plate positionable on the structure has a plate bushing providing a hole through the plate. The apparatus also includes a nosepiece for guiding a distal end of the tool through the plate bushing to the target location. The nosepiece has a collet configured to be moved at least partly through and sideward in the plate bushing to center the nosepiece on an element projecting from the structure at the target location. The nosepiece can be attached to the plate bushing to establish normality of the tool relative to the projecting element.

摘要: The present invention comprises a machining apparatus including a work piece holder having an adapter body with an axial bore and a translating portion located within the axial bore of the adapter body. The translating portion has a proximal end for coupling with a retention knob collet of a spindle and a distal end for attaching to a collet. The work piece holder includes a retaining piece coupling the adapter body and the translating portion allowing the translating portion to move axially within the adapter body. The apparatus facilitates a rotating spindle grasping and rotating a work piece to be brought into contact with a processing tool held stationary on a work table. The present invention also includes a fixture block for attaching milling tools and other devices to a work table and a method of operating a milling machine utilizing the fixture block and work piece holder.

摘要: A quick release chuck device has a body member defining an axially extending bore for receipt of a tool shank. At least a portion of the bore is defined by a plurality of radially compressible and axially extending gripping segments. The gripping segments are equally spaced and defined by axial slots extending from a front face of the body member. At least two axially extending and aligned recesses are defined on each of the gripping segments. An operating member is coaxial with and surrounds at least the gripping segments of the body member. The operating member defines a varying radial width channel with the recesses formed on the outside of the gripping segments. The operating member is axially movable relative to the body member. Actuating elements, such as balls, are disposed within the varying radial width channels. The actuating elements are movable within the channels by axial movement of the sleeve member from a gripping position wherein the balls are in a reduced radial width section of the channels causing the gripping segments to compress radially inward, and a release position wherein the balls move into a greater radial width section of the channels allowing radial expansion of the gripping segments.
