A vibrating apparatus e.g. for shaking the forming wire of a paper machine, comprising a body (1) and a drive shaft (2) rotatably mounted in the body. The drive shaft supports an eccentric bushing (3) displaceable along but nonrotatably fixed to said drive shaft. A reciprocating rod (9) positioned transversely with respect to the drive shaft is provided with a ring-shaped end (10) rotatably mounted around an outer mantle surface of said bushing stationary in the axial direction (D) of said bushing. The apparatus further comprises adjusting means (11-20) for displacing said bushing along the drive shaft in its axial direction in order to adjust the eccentricity between the drive shaft and the ring-shaped end of the reciprocating rod.

The invention provides an eccentric wherein the amplitude of reciprocation, or throw, is continuously variable, during operation, from zero to a maximum. This represents an improvement over adjustable eccentric devices in the prior art insofar as the conventional devices needed to be shut down and physically reconfigured to adjust the throw of the reciprocating arm. The invention will be of use in many functions, including precision farming applications.

This invention is a method and apparatus for quickly and infinitely adjusting the degree of eccentricity of a rotating member wherein a first rotating member is provided with interlocking means to a second member carrying means to rotate at an adjustable off-center relationship to the primary radial center of the initial rotating member. The adjustment is accomplished by an interconnecting tapered fit between the two members utilizing a critical tapered angle which is capable of locking in position by the taper itself but yet which can release when desired for adjustment.

The present invention relates to a driving apparatus for oscillation of a mold within a continuous casting machine and includes an eccentric shaft, having an eccentric shaft portion, rotatably mounted upon a frame, and an eccentric sleeve mounted upon the eccentric shaft portion. The eccentric sleeve is operatively connected to a mold oscillating system through means of a connecting rod, a first shaft connected to the eccentric shaft, a second shaft connected to the eccentric sleeve, and a clutch for rotating the eccentric shaft and the eccentric sleeve at different rates of revolution by means of a change-over transmission interposed between the two shafts so as to thereby change the oscillation amplitude of the connecting rod. According to the invention, the oscillation amplitude can thus be changed by remote control.
