Abstract:
Luggage cases of sewn fabric panels are old. These are cumbersome to manufacture, requiring many manual processes. A more advanced luggage case uses a shape retaining foam and fabric laminate to form major portions of the luggage case. This prior case still requires manual steps to apply shape stabilizing frame parts to the inside of the formed foam shell, and sewing to attach the slide fastener type closure around the perimeter of the shell. Disclosed is a process for forming a clamshell type luggage case (1) with an injection molded peripheral frame (5, 5null) and a fabric panel for a broad face (3). The edges of the fabric panel are attached to the injection molded frame by an autogenous bond formed between the edge of the panel and the plastic frame during molding.
Abstract:
A convertible travel case has a frame including an upright with a handle for grasping and a base with wheels for towing. A rigid case is mounted on the frame by a connector bracket having one portion pivotally connected with an upper part of the case and another portion slidably connected with the upright to permit the case to be shifted between a generally vertical storage position and a generally horizontal cart position. The frame and case have mating catch members at the bottom of the case. A releasable lock connects the connector bracket and the upright in a first raised position wherein the catch members are engaged to retain the case in the storage position, and a second lowered position wherein the catch members are disengaged and the lower end of the case is swung outwardly away from the frame with the connector bracket shifting downwardly along the upright to the cart position for supporting additional luggage on top of the case.
Abstract:
A multi-compartment storage device includes a base portion and a lid for storing various items, such as photographs, recorded media, memorabilia and the like. The storage device includes at least three storage sections for holding various items. The first storage section is disposed at a base of the device. A second storage section stores hanging items. The second storage section includes at least one support member for suspending the hanging items. A third storage section is disposed above the second storage section, and is designed to store other types of materials, such as recorded media and the like.
Abstract:
A file holding device includes a cover device having an intermediate layer made of foamable materials, and two outer layers secured onto the two opposite outer sides of the intermediate layer, for solidly retaining the intermediate layer between the outer layers. The intermediate layer may be made of the lighter foamable materials, and the outer layers may be made of stronger plastic or synthetic materials for solidly retaining the intermediate layer between the outer layers, and for forming the stronger but lighter cover device.
Abstract:
An improved convertible luggage which conveniently converts from a wheeled suitcase to a backpack having a first and second compartment, wherein the second compartment encloses a pair of shoulder straps having two ends wherein both ends of the shoulder straps are affixed within the second compartment. The straps can be deployed by opening the cover of the second compartment, and when the second compartment is closed, the straps are completely enclosed within the second compartment. In addition, the cover of the second compartment is designed to be folded and affixed to the bottom of the convertible luggage such that a double layer of cushion is provided between the user and the wheels of the luggage while the luggage is in the backpack mode.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an improved structure of mobile luggage case, comprising the case body, wheels, extension handle mechanism and side rollers, which mainly incorporates a plurality of side rollers on one side of the case body. While in waiting, the mobile luggage case can be couched horizontally on the ground. The case body can also be towed along. While in this way of moving, the side rollers roll on the ground with the least friction against the surface of the ground, making the towing less energy-consuming.
Abstract:
A luggage case having an engaging mechanism for easily exchanging a pulling rod mechanism is disclosed. It can be used for an interior-typed or exterior-typed pulling rod mechanism. When it is the interior-typed condition, a locking plate is disposed near the top of the case. A lower receiving seat is disposed at the bottom inside the case for inserting the ends of the outer tubes. An upper cover seat is disposed on the outer tubes for locking or releasing from the locking plate. The engaging mechanism has two hooks and a button. So, by pressing the button, the user can control the pulling rod mechanism to lock on or release from the case. When it is the exterior-typed condition, the user still can easy control the pulling rod mechanism to be locked or released. Therefore, this invention's structure is simple. With destroying the case, its pulling rod mechanism can be quickly and easily exchanged.
Abstract:
A soft case for holding weapons as they are transported or stored that has a clam-shell type body with an upper half body and a lower half body interconnected by a hinge and with the upper and lower half bodies and hinge made from a foam material that is soft enough to protect a weapon surrounded by said body and capable of being permanently shaped under heat and pressure to have one-half of a weapon molded as a recess in the upper half body and an opposite side one-half of the weapon molded as a recess in the lower half body whereby when the upper and lower body halves are pivoted about the hinge and into face to face relationship, with a weapon positioned in the recesses formed in the half bodies and including a zipper for securing the3 body halves together and a handle for carrying the gun case.
Abstract:
An article of luggage having an integral handle assembly generally has a front elongated segment, a back elongated segment, a first side segment, a second side segment, a top segment, and a bottom segment. Narrower side segments are disposed along side portions of the container relative to the top and bottom segments. A first support and a second support are affixed longitudinally to first side and second side segments, respectively. The handle assembly having a handle is disposed above the top segment and operatively engages the first and the second supports. For moving the luggage, a set of casters affixed on the bottom segment whereby the container may be rolled with a leading segment set at an incline relative to a substrate supporting the container. The leading segment may be one of the elongated segments or one of the side segments.
Abstract:
A light-weight side gusset for a bag includes a formed composite frame having a peripheral raised region and a depressed central region. An opening through the depressed central region forms a relatively narrow border portion around the inner periphery of the raised region. A central panel corresponding in configuration to the outline of the depressed region is attached to the border portion of the depressed region to cover the opening therethrough. The composite frame is made up of a moldable substrate, e.g. ethyl vinyl acetate foam, an outer layer wear-resistant material, e.g., high-denier nylon or poly/nylon combination, and, preferably, an inner adherent layer, e.g., the loop half of a hook-and-loop fabric. Methods of manufacturing the composite frame, a gusset including such frame, and a bag including such gusset are also disclosed.
