摘要: A method of forming a composite article is disclosed that involves providing a press having first and second platens, a cellulosic fiber substrate having a first thickness, and a layer of material such as a wood veneer, foil, or non-creped paper, where the layer of material has a thickness less than the thickness of the cellulosic fiber substrate. A layer of bonding material is placed onto the cellulosic fiber substrate or the layer of material, and the layer of material is placed onto the cellulosic fiber substrate so that the bonding material is between the layer of material and the cellulosic fiber substrate. The cellulosic fiber substrate and layer of material are placed between the first and second platens, and at least one of the first and second platens is moved toward the other of the first and second platens to deform the cellulosic fiber substrate and layer of material into a predetermined configuration while bonding the layer of material to the cellulosic fiber substrate without cracking or wrinkling the layer of material.

摘要: An elastic nonwoven laminate that contains an elastic film laminated to one or more nonwoven facings is provided. The nonwoven facing contains a conventional polyolefin and can also contain a polyolefin-based plastomer. The laminate is activated by grooving to decouple the nonwoven facing from the elastic film. To reduce fiber-pull out that can result due to activation by grooving, the laminate can be post-bonded at room or elevated temperatures and a specific range of pressures to compact the fibers of the facing and minimize fiber pull-out/fuzziness while not sacrificing the softness, elasticity, and feel of the laminate.

摘要: A method of assembling and shaping a laminate panel. An intermediate member is mounted on a lay-up table and a lay-up is assembling by laying a series of plies onto the intermediate member on the lay-up table. The intermediate member and the lay-up are then removed from the lay-up table and placed them on a shaped surface. The lay-up is then forced against the shaped surface, via the intermediate member, in a manner that modifies the shape of the lay-up to form a shaped laminate panel. Finally the shaped laminate panel is removed from the intermediate member. The lay-up table can thus support the flexible intermediate member during assembly, and can be relatively flat to enable the lay-up to assembled by an automated process.

摘要: A cushioning support device and a method for making the same are disclosed. The device comprises a first polyurethane foam having a non-slip sheet attached on a surface of the first foam, a second polyurethane foam having a resting sheet attached on a surface of the second foam, and a compound pressure-redistributing body. The first and second polyurethane foams are arranged one over another into a stack which is welded and envelops to form at least an internal pocket along a weld line. The internal pocket houses the pressure-redistributing body, and it comprises a foam and a solid gel attached on a top surface of the foam, wherein the solid gel is securely positioned by way of melting. Dips of the gel can lodge into the small interstices of the foam material during the melting process; the gel gets into a solid state after solidification.

Automated equipment or hand lay-up are used to collate parts or components into a multi-layer stack. Each stack contains all plies, including ply build-up areas, tacked in the proper location to maintain orientation and location. Ply consolidation tooling contains all necessary part features and is coordinated to the customized multiple ply stacks to form a single integrated thermoplastic composite laminate potentially having areas of differing thickness from the multiple ply stacks.

摘要: Provided herein are silicon-based compositions, which after curing is a coating composition having strong substrate adhesion and scratch resistance. The compositions are formed from a mixture of constituents comprising: from about 20% to about 90% (w/w) of a first siloxane selected from the group consisting of silsesquioxane, methylmethoxysiloxane, and combinations thereof; and from about 10% to about 80% (w/w) of one or more silicon compounds selected from the group consisting of a second siloxane, silane, and silazane. Optionally, the compositions may comprise from about 0.1% to about 5% (w/w) alkyltitanate.
