摘要： A baseball-training device that improves the accuracy and power of a batter's swing. The device comprises a wheeled base, telescoping vertical stand, and an automotive tire. The wheeled base provides mobility for the device. The telescoping vertical stand has a top arched portion that supports the automotive tire. The telescoping vertical stand also comprises a hinge means and a tensioning means. The tire is capable of being hit by a baseball bat on a marked side tread portion of the tire so that the motion of the baseball bat is resisted by a natural resilience of the tire and the tensioning means. The device is easy to manufacture and relatively inexpensive, thereby making it available to all baseball or softball player enthusiasts. The device is of a durable, long life construction and able to sustain repeated attempts by practicing hitters.

An apparatus in accordance with the present invention includes a harness to be worn about the torso of the trainee, wherein the harness is configured to releasably support thereon a training projectile which is configured to be launched from is supported position on the harness as a result of a training maneuver which does not involve the throwing arm of trainee. A method in accordance with the present invention includes providing a training projectile, releasably supporting the projectile proximate a throwing shoulder of the trainee, executing a training maneuver and launching the projectile as a result of the execution of the training maneuver.

摘要： A flat goal target can be attached to an available outside (brick) wall, i.e., at a school building. The goal target is a flat fabric, woven or non-woven, i.e., a sturdy vinyl. The image of a goal and goalkeeper is printed on the fabric. Attaching strips, which can be made of stiff or male Velcro material, may be adhesively secured to the brick wall. The adhesive is strong enough to keep the target up, but giving enough not to harm the wall. The target can be set up for practice, and taken down between practice times. This permits the lacrosse player, hockey player, or other athlete to practice by hitting the ball against the wall, with an objective that simulates game conditions. In a variation, thin flat aluminum sheets are positioned behind the goal target in the goal areas not covered by the goalie figure. These act as a sounder to let the player know he or she is on target. As an alternative, the same system can be used to simulate a tennis net. There may be other attachment provided, e.g., metal fasteners or clips.

摘要： A ball-throwing machine includes a camera connected to a computer vision unit and a microphone connected to a speech-processing unit. The computer vision unit processes images from the camera to determine a user's position, and to detect user gestures from a predetermined repertoire of gestures. The speech-processing unit recognizes user vocal commands from a predetermined repertoire of commands. A computer receives information from a control panel, from the computer vision unit, from the speech-processing unit, and from a file describing the ballistic properties of the ball to be thrown. The computer accordingly determines a ball trajectory according to the user's position and parameters indicated by a combination of control-panel settings, user gestures, and user vocal commands. The computer then adjusts the direction, elevation, ball speed, and ball spin to conform to the determined trajectory, and initiates throwing of a ball accordingly.

摘要： A baseball training aid includes a hollow tubular member rotatably positioned on an adjustable height stand, for use in practice batting. The hollow tubular member is adjustably positioned to guide a bat during the initial movement of the bat by the batter. The apparatus can be configured as a bat guide, as a ball support, and for aligning the batting swing of a batter. A swing tube is pivotally secured to the base of the powertube apparatus, and may be adjustably positioned in relation to the hollow tubular member. A ball may be placed upon either the swing tube or on the hollow tubular member. The apparatus improves the power developed during a swing, by guiding the initial part of a swing in a forward direction, before the bat is rotated to meet the ball. The apparatus may be adjusted to suit the height and batting stance of the batter, and the hollow tubular member may be rotatably positioned and releasably secured to suit the needs of a variety of batters. The powertube apparatus may be positioned in different ways to improve the batting skills of the batter.
