    摘要: A centrifugal device for separating lubricating or other fluid from fluid impregnated scrap, metal shavings or the like, includes a separator bowl disposed within the centrifuge device and a drive mechanism for rotating the separator bowl. The separator bowl includes a bottom wall and an angled side wall. A plurality of blades include bottom flanges and angled side flanges that mateably engage the bottom wall and the side wall, respectively. Threaded fasteners each include a head abutting an exterior surface of the side wall and a shaft that extends through the side wall and threadably into an associated one of the blades. The fastener heads characteristically are positioned in a location where the heads are readily accessible from outside the separator bowl and where the heads will not be worn by the scrap and metal shavings processed through the centrifugal device. A slotted clamp plate clampingly secures the bottom flanges to the bowl bottom to securely retain the blades in place.

The chamber has a generally off-centered figure eight-shaped side cross-sectional configuration, wherein the narrowest portion of the chamber is closer to the inner perimeter. The chamber further has an inlet channel extending radially from the core to a distance near the outer perimeter of the chamber, and an outlet channel extending radially from the core to a distance approximately near the narrowest portion of the chamber. The distal end of the inlet channel is in fluid communication with the interior of the chamber, and the distal end of the outlet channel is in fluid communication with the interior of the chamber at the narrowest portion.

    摘要: A self-powered centrifugal separator for removing particulate contaminants from engine lubricant includes a rotor canister which is spun at high speed about a vertical axle by ejection of the lubricant supplied to the canister at elevated pressure by way of apertures in a bearing tube near the upper end of the canister. The canister is separated into upper separation chamber and lower outflow chamber by an annular partition wall which defines a transfer aperture between the chambers by its radially inner edge. The edge of the partition wall also supports concentrically within the separation chamber a separation funnel arrangement having an inclined surface supporting alternate separation ribs and scavenging apertures. Liquid entering the separation chamber is directed radially outwardly and under pressure gradient moves inwardly along the inclined surface. The ribs stand up sharply and create eddies which effect separation of particulate contaminants and their deposition at the surface. Centrifugal forces carry such deposited materials through the scavenging apertures to deposit on the peripheral wall of the canister.

    摘要: A centrifuge with an associated container system in the form of cassettes for separation and treatment of blood or blood components has been developed. The centrifuge includes a rotor having a central compartment in the form of a tubular shaft cavity extending concentrically with the axis of rotation of the rotor and an annular separation compartment which is arranged around the cavity at the upper part thereof. A first container system is arranged in the rotor, for washing of blood cells, includes a round bag and two or more flexible secondary containers connected thereto, one of which contains a treatment liquid and a tubular sleeve adapted to the shaft cavity of the rotor. The secondary containers are arranged in the sleeve to rest against each other and the round bag is mounted on a projecting flange at the upper part of the sleeve.

    摘要: A centrifugal separtor for non-cohesive particulates, such as are found in transmission oils and hydraulic liquids, rather than the cohesive combustion products found within internal combustion engine lubricants, consists of a housing enclosing a vertical spindle on which spins a liquid reaction driven rotor container. The container is divided internally by inwardly extending partition wall into separate outflow chambers. Non-cohesive particulates which separate from the liquid, and are held against the peripheral side wall by centrigual force during rotation, slump therefrom in the absence of rotation and risk forming a slurry that gets carried to the outflow chamber. An upwardly extending, outwardly inclined barrier wall forms a contaminant retention region with a restricted neck defined by the separation of the barrier wall edge from the side wall, that permits deposits on the barrier wall to carry to the peripheral side wall and spread across it during rotation, and does not interfere with slumping absent rotation and inhibits the slumped material from being washed into the outflow before rotation recommences.

    摘要: A removable conformal liner for a centrifuge container is described. The liner has a flexible or semi-rigid body with an opening for introducing a sample. When the liner is inserted into an internal cavity of a centrifuge container, the body of the liner conforms to the interior cavity. The liner body may be made of a material that is sufficiently resilient to allow a reversible deformation of the body by folding, twisting, collapsing, rolling, or pleating. Also disclosed is a centrifuge container assembly, including a container suitable for centrifuging and a removable liner with a flexible or semi-rigid body placed into the container. The centrifuge container assembly of this invention may also have retaining-means for retaining the liner in a fixed position within the container. Also provided by the present invention is a method for separating solids from suspensions by centrifugation. In this method, the removable conformal an liner of the present invention with a flexible or semi-rigid body is placed into a centrifuge container. Once inside the container, the liner body conforms to the shape of the interior cavity of the container. The step of placing the liner may include deforming the liner body to reduce its dimension, and fitting the deformed liner through the container opening. The method may further include a step of immobilizing the liner with retaining-means. When centrifugation is completed, the liner is removed from the container with the pelleted solids contained in the liner. The pelleted solids on the liner may be either harvested or discarded.

    摘要: Method of separating cells in a centrifuge, preferably for producing platelets. A cell suspension is provided in a processing bag and is centrifuged. The cell enriched fraction is transferred to a storage bag via an outlet tube. The outlet tube is arranged with a portion thereof in a position adjacent the periphery of the centrifuge. When the enriched fraction is transferred through the outlet tube placed at the periphery of the centrifuge and during centrifugation, the outlet tube operates as a cell trap and the enriched fraction is further separated. Preferably, the cell suspension is buffy coat and the enriched fraction comprises platelets. The corresponding bag assembly comprises a processing bag intended to enclose the cell suspension. The processing bag is placed in a centrifuge rotor for separating the cells into a fraction enriched on platelets by centrifugation. An outlet tube transfers the enriched fraction to a storage bag and is placed in a position adjacent the periphery of the centrifuge rotor for further separation of the enriched fraction at transferring, during continued centrifugation, the enriched fraction through the outlet tube.
