    摘要: In a method of screening bulk material, a gas is conducted in counterflow to a direction of movement of bulk material for separating the bulk material into a fraction of coarse particles and a fraction of fine particles. In order to limit the amount of coarse particles in the outgoing fraction of fine particles, the amount of coarse particles contained in the fraction of fine particles is measured and compared with a desired value. When encountering a deviation of the measured the amount of coarse particles contained in the fraction of fine particles form the desired value, the energy of gas is so controlled as to match the amount of coarse particles contained in the fraction of fine particles with the desired value.

    摘要: A process, a means of transferring mineable material from any number of sources to a number of devices capable of separating out values from that mineable material. See (FIG. 1) the mineable material enters the hose (1), the hose (1) being under vacuum, and is transferred in a flow of air to the upper portion of a hopper (2). The hopper (2) is also under vacuum. The flow of air leaves the upper portion of the hopper (2) through hose (4), which is connected, to a vacuum blower (5). The mineable material, being heavier than air is deposited in the hopper (2). The mineable material is removed from the bottom of the hopper (2) by means of a variable speed drive screw conveyor (3) and is transferred to a separation device (8). The level of heavy mineable material (6) contained in the hopper (2), along with the mineable material contained in the screw conveyor (3) causes a seal against the force of vacuum and allows the mineable material to enter and be removed from hopper (2) simultaneously if desired. In order to seal the process against the force of vacuum at process start up a flap check (7) is provided at the exit end of the screw conveyor (3).

    摘要: A first stage chamber has upwardly diverging walls so that an upward airstream has different air velocities at different heights in the chamber. When particles such as seeds are fed homogeneously along the chamber top length, they reach equilibrium at different heights depending on their weights and volatilities. The particles suspended and classified at different heights are conveyed by a horizontal airstream in parallel horizontal channels toward a chamber side wall, where they are removed by suction. Ribbed sections adjacent to the channels divide the chamber into deviating cascaded pathways, where the upward air velocity is homogenized and an opposite horizontal airstream conveys falling particles toward the side wall opposite to that on which the particles are removed, to thereby homogenize the spread of particles in the chamber. Light trash is removed through a convergent top section toward a cyclone. Heavy particles not suspended in the chamber are collected and removed at the chamber bottom. A second stage receives the particles removed at a sidewall of the first stage and performs a further separation by ballistically projecting the particles into one of two groups depending on the adjustable horizontal extent of the ballistic projection of the particles.

    摘要: A process for removing ammonia from fly ash during processing on an inclined fluidized bed. The process begins by introducing a mixture of particulates having ammonia adsorbed therein into an inclined fluidized bed. Concurrently, a fluidizing gas is pre-heated and is also introduced into the fluidized bed. The mixture is then processed along the fluidized bed with the pre-heated fluidizing gas to achieve bubbling fluidization of the particles. This causes segregation by which a dense fraction settles downward and a light fraction rises upward in the bed. Ammonia in the particles is desorbed by the pre-heated fluidizing gas. The fluidizing gas is then scrubbed after the processing step to remove the desorbed ammonia. The process may also include the use of acoustic enhancement whereby an acoustic field is imposed on the fluidized bed to improve fluidization and segregation of the particles and to increase the efficacy of ammonia removal. In addition, a heat exchanger or electric heating elements immersed in the fluidized bed can be used to heat the ash to the temperatures needed to desorb ammonia from the ash. Furthermore, the energy efficiency of the process can be improved by recovering heat from the hot ash discharged from the fluidized bed and/or from the exhaust stream of hot fluidizing gas, for reuse during preheating steps. The improved process removes ammonia in a simple and efficient manner by preheating the fluidizing gas of the inclined bed to temperatures of 300 to 500° F., and using this preheated gas to drive off any adsorbed ammonia.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for the separation of husks and other chaff material apart from bird seed includes a smaller diameter inner container that is placed inside of a larger diameter outer container. A plurality of feet elevate the inner container above a floor of the outer container. A lid is used to cover the outer container and also the inner container. A housing is attached to the inside center of the lid and it includes a motor disposed distally from the lid with a fan blade attached thereto to displace air. A plurality of vanes are attached to the housing from which they extend until they contact the inside surface of the inner container. The vanes prevent a cyclonic air current pattern from occurring and so help to displace the husks apart from the seed. An offset mass introduces vibration which tends to raise more of the husks to the surface where they are displaced out from the inner container. The husks pass around the outside edge of the inner container and settle in a pile underneath the inner container on the floor of the outer container thereby leaving predominantly good clean seed in the inner container once again ready for use.
