摘要: A forming apparatus and method for forming a sectional profile of round tubing, angled tubing or open forming stock without losing the manufacturability of conventional roll forming The forming apparatus comprises individual shoe blocks having a pass on their rotating curved faces. The shoe blocks can be moved in the circumferential direction on an endless track, and are connected to provide the same curvature radius and length as a required arc segment of a virtual large-diameter circle.

摘要: According to the present invention, a roll forming method includes a first roll forming process for forming a trapezoidal projecting portion at a center portion, a second roll forming process for gradually narrowing an upper side of the trapezoidal projecting portion to form a turnup projecting portion, a third roll forming process for forming perpendicularly folded portions at both sides, and a fourth roll forming process for folding a middle portion between the perpendicularly folded portion and the turnup projecting portion in a semi-circular shape. In this way, it is possible to form a turnup projecting portion, insides of which are closely contacted to each other with a curvature which is larger than the conventional curvature, with high speed.

摘要: A strip material is subjected to an end bending step, and subsequently the bent ends of the strip material, namely, those portions of the strip material which are located adjacent to its abutting ends, are pre-coined to increase the accuracy in the region of the abutting ends, followed by a conventional U-bending and a final coining step, thereby producing a cylindrical material. The use of the pre-coining step for the abutting ends improves the circularity of the cylindrical member.

摘要: A process and apparatus for continuously transforming a flat metal strip into an elongated pipe, in which the strip is fed through a forming tool along a curved forming path wherein the longitudinal edge portions are progressively turned up into cross-sectionally arcuate portions leaving between a substantially cross-sectionally rectilinear section, the width of which progressively decreases during travel of the strip through the forming tool. The curved forming path in the tool is such that it has a radius of curvature R(z) in its longitudinal direction, the arcuate portions each having a radius r.sub.o and the decreasing width of said rectilinear section being 2x(z) (wherein z is the distance of travel through the tool). The radius of curvature R(z) is controlled in sole dependence on r.sub.o and the differential quotient x'(z). In the resulting elongated tube, relative differences in travel distance between arbitrary areas in a transverse cross-section of the strip forming the pipe are substantially completely eliminated without plastic deformation in the longitudinal direction.

摘要: A duct making apparatus includes a first station configured to accept a formable sheet material and a second station configured to receive the formable sheet material from the first station. The first station includes a mechanism for forming one of a male lock bend and a female lock seam in a leading edge of the formable sheet material. The second station includes a retractable conveyor. Movement of the sheet material from the first station to the second station defines an axis of travel of the sheet material. The retractable conveyor is selectively movable from a first position in which the retractable conveyor is in close association with the first station, and a second position in which the retractable conveyor is spaced from the first station.
