摘要： A method of manufacturing a power transmission chain pin, which connects links arranged in a chain width direction of a power transmission chain, includes a rough sectional shape formation step of drawing a wire rod so that a section thereof is formed in a substantially oval shape and a rough end portion shape formation step of cutting a continuous bar-like member which has been subjected to the drawing work into a predetermined length so that an end surface thereof has a predetermined angle with respect to an axial direction. A final sectional shape and a final end portion shape of the power transmission chain pin are formed by a cold forging work to the bar-like member cut into the predetermined length, which is a final shape formation step.

摘要： A blank, having a pair of parallel bushing forming strips that are intermediately connected by a web, is formed from stock. The blank is bent and curled in a progressive die to form a bushing link that includes a pair of cylindrical bushings integral with the web. Rollers can be slipped longitudinally over the bushing ends opposite from the web and an inside plate is welded to the bushing ends to form a roller link. Such roller links are alternately arranged with pin-links to form a roller chain. A bushing chain can be formed in essentially the same manner as the roller chain by omitting the rollers from the bushing links.

摘要： A bush is pressed into a link plate in a turning link rank that turns relatively with a pin. The bush is molded into a seamless cylindrical shape by cold-forging and is coated with a metal carbide layer formed by cementation of chrome, vanadium and other metals and having Vickers hardness of 1300 Hv or more similarly to the pin. Afterwards, the bush is treated by a quenching, tempering or isothermal transformation process. Thereby, wear resistance of the pins and the link plates of a silent (link) chain is improved, productivity is improved and associated costs are reduced.

The chain comprises pairs of side links alternating with center links, and held together with pins. A pair of lubricating wells is located on each side link, proximate the insertion point of the pins. The lubricating well provides lubricating access to the pins, and is capable of retaining lubricant such that lubricant is continuously provided to the pins and their pivot points throughout the operation of the chain.

摘要： In the manufacture of a link plate for a silent chain, a band of sheet steel is intermittently forwarded to string of punching dies and shaving dies. The band tends to follow a slightly curved path, which causes alignment errors in a conventional punching and shaving operation. However, in this case, each shaving die and its corresponding punching die are disposed in symmetrical relationship with respect to an intermediate position along the path of movement of the band, and the intermediate position coincides with the location at which the deviation of the band. As a result, the shaving dies are more accurately aligned with the punched surfaces produced by the corresponding punching dies.

摘要： A device for punching holes in a surveyor's chain and in metal pieces used for repairing the chain and for riveting together the punched chain and metal pieces comprising an elongated vertical housing having an elongated vertically oriented opening extending transversely therethrough, an upper vertical bore extending from the top of the housing into the vertical opening, a lower female die element received in the lower portion of the opening and having a flat horizontally extending recess therein whose width is equal to that of the chain to be repaired, the female die element also including a pair of spaced holes located on the flat recess, an upper male die member received in the upper portion of the opening and vertically slidable therein, the male die member having a pair of punching rods projecting downwardly, an arbor shaft having a threaded portion received in a threaded portion of the upper bore, a handle for rotating the arbor shaft, the arbor shaft having a lower portion adapted, upon rotation, to engage the upper end of the male die member for urging the male die member downwardly toward the female die member so as to urge the punching rods against a chain portion received in the flat recess on the female die member, whereby, upon continued rotation of the arbor shaft the punching rods will punch holes through the chain portion and pass at least partially into the openings in the female die member, and a lower handle or mounting for restraining rotation of the lower end of the housing. The device also includes rivet blocks to replace the die elements for securing rivets to overlapping prepunched metal strips.
