    摘要: An electric jigsaw (1) includes a main housing (2) containing a gear housing (10), a reciprocating rod (11) vertically projecting from within the gear housing, a saw blade (13) coupled to the rod via a coupling ring (12), and a transparent synthetic resin guard (14) provided at the lower front end of the main housing and the gear housing (10). The transparent guard includes a vertical optical path therethrough and is attached to the gear housing in such a manner as to be horizontally rotatable between a protective position for covering the coupling ring and an open position for exposing the coupling ring. Additionally included in the jigsaw is an insulating cover (15) assembled to the gear housing (10) within the main housing (2) and a downward oriented light-emitting diode (19) disposed at the bottom end of the insulating cover (15) directly above the transparent guard (14) when the guard is in its protective position. The light from the LED is transmitted through the front guard along the optical path, illuminating a workpiece (W) immediately forward of the blade without significant scattering or diffusion.

    摘要: An extension is attachable to the driving shaft of a reciprocating blade tool such as a saber saw. The extension is attached to the drive shaft and the blade is attached to the end of the extension. The extension places the blade at a position spaced laterally and longitudinally from the nominal point of attachment of the blade to the driving shaft, the lateral spacing placing the new blade position approximately at the lateral outside edge of the tool housing, thereby permitting flush cuts. The extension can be formed of an integral strip or sheet having a proximal leg, an intermediate section and a distal leg, joined at equal and opposite obtuse angles. The angles are reinforced by two or more webs bent from the plane of the legs and attached, for example by welding, to the intermediate section.

    摘要: A reciprocating saw is provided having a motor oriented within a housing for operably driving a saw bar and blade holder in a reciprocating motion. The blade holder has a longitudinal slot for receiving a saw blade, and a transverse aperture extending into the longitudinal slot for receiving a follower. A sleeve is pivotally mounted upon the body, and has a circum-axial cam groove formed therein cooperating with the follower. Rotation in a first lock direction urges the follower into the longitudinal slot for engaging the saw blade and rotation of the sleeve in a second unlock direction allows the follower to retract. A biasing member is included for biasing the sleeve in the first lock direction. The sleeve central bore is adapted to provide clearance for the follower such that the sleeve is permitted to axially translate relative to the body for assembly or disassembly of the blade holder.

The laser alignment system comprises a housing, a laser generator within the housing, an internal battery supplying the laser generator, a switch which is positioned within the housing and independent of the main switch to turn on and turn off the laser generator. Turn on the switch, the laser generator projects a laser beam onto the workpiece ahead of the blade in alignment with the plane of the blade. The operator only needs to align the projected laser line along a target line on the workpiece to attain the more precise cutting without concentrating his observation exactly ahead of the cutting blade.

The power tools may include a reciprocating drive shaft (24) partially extending from the tool housing (12). A first end of a rod (37, 112) may be attached to the drive shaft. A second end of the rod may include a blade slot (37a, 112a) defined to receive the blade so that the longitudinal axis of the blade aligns with a longitudinal, reciprocating axis of the drive shaft. An aperture (37b) may be defined substantially perpendicular to the first blade slot and may communicate with the blade slot. A sleeve (33, 115) may be rotatably mounted on the rod so as to pivot between an initial locking position and a blade replacement position. A cam surface (33c, 116) is defined on an inner surface of the sleeve. A stopper (33e, 116d) projects from the cam surface or the rod and defines the blade replacement position. A pushpin (42, 113) may be slidably disposed within the rod aperture so that a contact portion (42a, 113b) of the pushpin slidably contacts the cam surface. The pushpin may contact the first stopper in the blade replacement position and prevent the sleeve from pivoting beyond the blade replacement position. A collar (52, 130) may pivotally coupled to the tool housing and at least partially surround the sleeve and the reciprocating drive shaft. The collar may include a manually operable tab (52b, 130b) formed on an outer surface. When the collar is manually pivoted in an opening direction, the collar engages the sleeve and causes the sleeve to rotate toward the blade replacement position. When the collar is returned to a closed position, the sleeve disengages from the collar.
