摘要: Reinforcing fibers are precisely aligned and distributed in a metal matrix by (a) forming a corrugated sheet of the metal, filling the valleys with reinforcing fibers, sandwiching the sheet between two flat sheets of the same metal and subjecting the assembly to pressure and elevated temperatures until the layers of metal matrix become integrally bonded, or (b) placing between two sheets of metal matrix in an alternate or periodic but parallel fashion fibers or rods of both the reinforcing metal and the metal matrix and subjecting the assembly to pressure and elevated temperatures until the metal matrix becomes integrally bonded. Alternatively, in both instances the assembly can be rolled into a cylinder with the reinforcing fibers parallel to the axis of the cylinder and the resulting assembly extruded into a billet or compacted at elevated temperatures.

摘要: The present invention is a low heat energy input repair system. The system utilizes a V-shaped feedstock that conforms to the shape of grooves in damaged parts. The V-shape of the feedstock conforms closely to the damaged region of various components and reduces the heat input needed to bond the surfaces. The repair system is deployable onsite, at a military depot, industrial manufacturing facility or other location where a mobile repair system would be beneficial. The present system provides onsite, in-situ, low heat input repair of wear, fatigue and corrosion cracks, or impact surface damage of large components. The present invention is particularly useful for components with thin walls and results in low distortion.

摘要: A heat exchanger includes a shell communicating with a first fluid inlet pipe and a first fluid outlet pipe, end caps coupled to ends of the shell to communicate with a second fluid inlet pipe and a second fluid outlet pipe, a plurality of tubes disposed in the shell to constitute a channel through which a second fluid flows, an end baffle located at ends of the tubes to prevent mixing of a first fluid and the second fluid, and a first plate to fill gaps between the tubes and the end baffle.

摘要: A filler material improves the quality of a joint seam formed during thermal joining of two metallic structural components and includes a core and a coating that surrounds the core at least in sections Because the filler material comprises a coating on the core, the alloying material for the coating may be selected largely independently of any possibly limiting metallurgical requirements in relation to the base material for the core so that with the use of the heterogeneous filler material optimal joint seam characteristics of the joined structural components always result, largely irrespective of the materials composition of the core If an essentially H-shaped cross-sectional geometry of the filler material used, moreover, preliminary fixing or alignment of the structural components that are to be joined in a thermal joining process becomes possible.

摘要: A welding machine lays down its welding bead at the juncture of two surfaces, back of which a pressure boundary has been formed. A depression, or groove, is provided at the juncture of the two surfaces. The weld bead bridges over the groove to form a junction of the two surfaces, leaving the bottom of the groove above the pressure boundary to function as a passage for materials at the surfaces which vaporize at the temperature of the welding operation. The escape of the gases through the passage obviates the gases bubbling up through, and deteriorating, the solidifying weld material forming the junction.
