摘要: A transmission shaft of a countershaft-type manual transmission is constructed from a plurality of hollow shaft portions which are butt press welded to one another, at least two of which hollow shaft portions are provided in each instance with at least one helical toothing of a fixed wheel of a spur gear stage. The hollow shaft portions provided with a helical toothing are connected to the respective adjacent hollow shaft portion in each instance so as to be rotated by a correction angle (Δα) around their center axis in proportion to a deviation (Δx) from their axial target position, wherein the ratio between the correction angle (Δα) and the axial deviation (Δx) corresponds to the pitch (s) of the helical toothing (Δα/Δx=s).

摘要: Properties and performance of weld material between metals in a weldment is controlled by modifying one or more of the nitrogen content and the carbon content to produce carbide (e.g. MC-type), nitride and/or complex carbide/nitride (e.g. MX-type) type precipitates. Fusion welding includes (i) adjusting shield gas composition to increase nitrogen/carbon gas and nitride/carbide species, (ii) adjusting composition of nitrogen/carbon in materials that participate in molten welding processes, (iii) direct addition of nitrides/carbides (e.g. powder form), controlled addition of nitride/carbide forming elements (e.g. Ti, Al), or addition of elements that increase/impede solubility of nitrogen/carbon or nitride/carbide promoting elements (e.g. Mn), and (iv) other processes, such as use of fluxes and additive materials. Weld materials have improved resistance to different cracking mechanisms (e.g., hot cracking mechanisms and solid state cracking mechanisms) and improved tensile related mechanical properties.

摘要: Methods for welding a particle-matrix composite body to another body and repairing particle-matrix composite bodies are disclosed. Additionally, earth-boring tools having a joint that includes an overlapping root portion and a weld groove having a face portion with a first bevel portion and a second bevel portion are disclosed. In some embodiments, a particle-matrix bit body of an earth-boring tool may be repaired by removing a damaged portion, heating the particle-matrix composite bit body, and forming a built-up metallic structure thereon. In other embodiments, a particle-matrix composite body may be welded to a metallic body by forming a joint, heating the particle-matrix composite body, melting a metallic filler material forming a weld bead and cooling the welded particle-matrix composite body, metallic filler material and metallic body at a controlled rate.

摘要: A tube and tubesheet assembly is provided, which includes a tubesheet, the tubesheet comprising at least one tube insertion aperture therethrough; at least one tube inserted in the at least one tube insertion aperture; and a damage-resistant layer applied to an edge of the at least one tube and along an inner surface of a portion of the tube that is positioned within the corresponding tube insertion aperture. A heat exchanger including the assembly is also provided. A method is also provided for coupling a tube to a tubesheet. The method includes applying a damage-resistant layer to an edge of the tube and along an inner surface of a portion of the tube that is positioned within a tube insertion aperture in the tubesheet. The method can also be used to repair tubes and retrofit pre-existing tube-to-tubesheet joints.

摘要: A method of controlling a back weld root surface includes arranging a sealing portion along the back weld root surface of a workpiece to form a purge region adjacent to a section of a joint, supplying a shielding gas within the purge region at a first flow rate, and applying a weld deposit across a front surface of the section of the joint. The shielding gas displaces an ambient environment within the purge region, and the back weld root surface of the weld deposit includes a positive root penetration relative to the back weld root surface based at least in part on the shielding gas within the purge region.

摘要: The present device is configured for mounting on and movement around the outside surface of a pipe to be processed, and comprises a clamping device and a flexible composite carriage consisting of at least two pivotally connected component parts capable of pivoting about a pin of a hinged connection lying parallel to the axis of the pipe to be processed, wherein each part comprises a group of at least two coaxial supporting rollers, the axis of which is situated at a distance from the hinged connection that is less than or equal to ⅓ of the distance between the hinges of the component part and is parallel to the axis of the pipe to be processed. The component parts are connected in succession in such a way that each part bears on two groups of supporting rollers, one of which is mounted on the component part, and the other of which is mounted on an adjacent component part. One of the component parts of the carriage is mounted such as to rest on an additional group of supporting rollers. At least one component part is provided with a supporting and driving roller and with a driving mechanism having a source of torque, and at least one component part has at least one processing device.
