    摘要: A high impact resistant rotationally molded door and process for molding the door has the hinge post integrally attached to the rotationally molded skin of the door. A hinge member is provided that has a perforate U-shaped metal sheet bonded to preferably the upper portion of the hinge post. The sides of the U-shaped metal sheet are spaced sufficiently apart so that registration with the subsequently rotationally molded plastic skin of the door occurs. This hinge member at the perforate metal sheet rapidly heats during rotational molding. The perforate metal thus bonds to integrally mold with the skin of the door. This bonding occurs as the hinge post is molded within the hollow door construction along its hinging edge. The hinge member attaches at the perforate U-shaped metal sheet to the skin of the door while all other portions of the hinge post are free to move with respect to the door. The door is thus formed without door warping during curing and shrinking of rotationally molded plastic door body. Door warping is avoided. At the same time, when the door is in use, the perforate U-shaped metal sheet in its integral attachment to the rotationally molded skin of the door prevents dislodgment of the hinge post relative to the door.

    摘要: A multiaxis rotational molding apparatus includes a support portion, a molding portion and a control portion. The support portion includes an upstanding arcuate frame section. The molding portion includes an upstanding arcuate mold supporting assembly disposed within and spaced from the arcuate frame section. A mold assembly includes separable mold sections forming a substantially enclosed mold cavity carried within the mold supporting assembly. The control portion includes drive assemblies arranged in a preselected configuration adjacent the arcuate frame section selectively energized in coordination with adjacent drive assemblies for movement of the mold supporting assembly in a selected profile. Programmable memory stores preselected operating parameters. Monitors sense operating information form control components. Circuitry transmits signals from the monitors to a coordinator comparing the operating information with operating parameters stored in the memory to control rotation of the mold supporting assembly in a preselected rotational profile.

    摘要: A rotational molding oven for forming an object from a mold. The oven includes a cavity for retaining the mold, a burner for heating the cavity and melting the resin and a device for rocking the mold between −45° and 45° from a horizontal plane. The rocking device is outside, extending into the cavity, maintaining the mold in the center of the cavity. The rocking device facilitates distribution of resin within the mold and improves thermal flow of heat within the cavity thereby increasing thermal efficiency and minimizing the size of the cavity. The rocking device includes a first track outside the cavity, a carriage assembly, a drive assembly connected to the carriage assembly and a guide assembly connected between the first track and carriage assembly for translating up and down the first track, causing the carriage assembly to move therewith and the mold to rock about the central axis of the cavity. The carriage assembly is positioned below the guide assembly at all points during translational movement. The drive assembly includes a spindle bearing connected to the carriage assembly and a spindle arm extending from the spindle bearing and through a side of the cavity for releasably connecting to the mold for rotating the mold through multiple complete 360° rotations in either a clockwise or counterclockwise direction. A cooling system consisting of exhaust fan, air intake damper and water spray is positioned in the cavity for cooling the mold containing the melted resin.
